VLM Airlines being rebranded as CityJet

VLM Airlines (Antwerp) has started repainting its fleet into CityJet’s 2007 colors. CityJet will be the surviving carrier when Air France subsidiary CityJet (Dublin) is merged with VLM. The two carriers will operate under the CityJet name starting on January 1, 2010. However both carriers will continue to operate under each AOC until this date.

Titan Airways (London-Stansted) has added “Pixie Lott” (Victoria Louise Lott) titles to its Boeing 757-2Y0 G-ZAPU (msn 26151) for the upcoming Baby-G tour.  Pixie will be introducing her “Turn it Up” album on September 14.

Myair.com is shut down by ENAC

Myair (Italy) (myair.com) (My Way Airlines) (Vicenza) on July 21 received notice from the ENAC that its AOC would be suspended by tomorrow (July 24) at midnight. Myair has stopped selling tickets. The company had been given a temporary AOC in June and Italy’s ENAC was hoping the airline would be able to work through its cash problems. However some recent flight cancellation leaving hundreds of passengers stranded left ENAC with no other solution. Myair started its low-fare operations on December 17, 2004.

Mint Airways (Mint Airlines S. L. dba) (Madrid) is a new Spanish ACMI charter airline. The new company leased 232-seat Boeing 757-28A EC-LBC (msn 26276) named “Tato Goya” from ILFC on May 29, 2009. Operations commenced this month. Besides flying for other airlines, Mint is also operating from MAD to Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Amman.

Ural Airlines (Yekaterinburg) is getting ready to take delivery of this ex-First Choice Airways Airbus A321-211. It was painted at Maastricht and rolled out on April 8 and ferried today to Manchester.

L’Avion (Elysair dba) (OpenSkies) (subsidiary of British Airways) (Paris-Orly) is slowly slipping into the sunset. One example is the repainting of its Boeing 757-26D F-HAVI (msn 24473).  After repainting at London (Heathrow), F-HAVI ferried back to Paris (Orly) on March 19. The airliner is now painted in full OpenSkies colors with a few subtle differences besides the French registration.

Danish Air Transport (DAT) (www.dat.dk) (Vamdrup) has added its first McDonnell Douglas DC-9-87 (MD-87). The new type was delivered on January 26, 2009.
