Canadian North cuts Yellowknife flights

Canadian North (Yellowknife) is cutting some flights from Yellowknife due to increased competition. The carrier will drop the Yellowknife-Calgary route on October 10 and the Yellowknife-Hay River route on October 25.

i Fly’s first airplane is painted at Miami

i Fly (Moscow-Vnukovo) is the latest new charter airline in Russia that is planning to add four Boeing 757-200s. The first, ex-KrasAir Boeing 757-256 EI-DUD (msn 26249), has been painted at Miami in this attractive color scheme.

Air New Zealand to operate “Matchmaking Flight”

Air New Zealand (Auckland) may be the most innovative airline in the world right now for filling seats. They have been trying various themes to appeal to certain overlooked sectors of the market. ANZ will operate a “Matchmaking Flight” for singles between Los Angeles and Auckland on October 13.

DHL Air (East Midlands) inaugurated Boeing 767-300 ERF freighter service on September 22 between Leipzig and New York (JFK) with the first two (of six) new 767-3JHFs (G-DHLE and G-DHLF).

Some international flights to Sydney diverted

Sydney Airport (Kingsford Smith) experienced a severe dust storm today due to 10 years of drought, especially in the Outback. Some international flights diverted to other airports but by midday SYD was returning to normal.

EASA issues safety warning for new pitot tubes

European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) (Cologne) has issued an emergency safety directive for the inspection and testing of the replacement Goodrich pitot tubes (speed sensors) to all European Airbus A330 and A340 operators.
