ANA introduces its ANA x Gundam logojet

ANA (All Nippon Airways) (Tokyo) has introduced its new “ANA ร— GUNDAM JET” Boeing 777-300 logojet. The Triple Seven displays real-life size graphics of the robot on the side of the aircraft. The aircraft was introduced on July 16 between Tokyo (Haneda) and Osaka (Itami) and will later operate on other ANA domestic routes until March 2011. Furthermore, ANA will retail special-edition GUNDAM model kits, exclusively designed with ANA corporate colors, on its international flights between July 1, 2010 and February 28, 2011.

In other news, ANA recently exercised options to purchase Aviation Partners Boeing Blended Winglets for installation on five new 767-300 ER’s that are scheduled to be delivered from Boeing starting in 2011. Added to their initial order of four, finalized inย August 2009, this new order brings ANA’s commitment for 767-300 ER Blended Winglets to nine systems. ย ANA is scheduled to start their first installation of 767-300 ER Blended Winglets in September of this year.

Will the first 787 Dreamliner delivery to ANA be delayed to early 2011?

Boeing (Chicago, Seattle, Wichita and Charleston) has stated delivery of its new 787 aircraft to ANA (All Nippon Airways) could be delayed into early 2011. Boeing is still hoping it can deliver the new type to ANA by year’s end.

In other news, Boeing has chosen North Charleston, SC, as the location for its new 787 Dreamlinerย interiors fabrication facility. Boeing will purchase land from Stone Mountain Industrial Park Inc. BRPH will design the facility, and Pattillo Construction will provide construction services. Employees at the facility will manufacture and assemble airplane interior parts.

The new fabrication factory will be 10 miles (16 km) from Boeing’s 787 final assembly and delivery site in North Charleston (CHS). The close proximity of the two facilities will help improve the efficiency of the final assembly and delivery process inย South Carolina. Charleston International Airport (CHS) will become the second 787 assembly plant in 2011 behind Everett (Paine Field) (PAE).

ANA to merge Air Central and Air Next into Air Nippon

ANA (All Nippon Airways) (Tokyo) has decided to move ahead with the merger of its subsidiaries. Air Central and Air Next will be merged into Air Nippon (Air Nippon Network Company) on October 1, 2010. Air Nippon in turn will be renamed ANA Wings (ANA Wings Company Limited) on October 1.

ANA intends to order 15 Mitsubishi MRJ-90 jets

ANA (All Nippon Airways) (Tokyo) has confirmed its intention to order 15 Mitsubishi MRJ-90s for delivery in 2013-2017 if the project receives the go-ahead. The airline initially ordered the aircraft on March 27, 2008.

The Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) is a passenger jet aircraft seating between 70-96 passengers and is slated to be manufactured by Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation, a joint venture between Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Toyota Motor Corporation.

Trans States Airlines has also ordered 50 copies but the projects is still looking for further orders.

ANA considers a new low-cost subsidiary

ANA (All Nippon AIrways) (Tokyo) is considering establishing a new-cost subsidiary to operate both domestic and regional international routes. The new subsidiary would be based at Osaka (Kansai) if it decides to move forward with the project. The new subsidiary would operate under a different name and brand.

ANA to start flying the Boeing 787 Dreamliner overseas in March

ANA (All Nippon Airways) (Tokyo) expects to take delivery of the first Boeing 787-881 Dreamliner in November. The new type will first enter revenue service on domestic routes in Japan followed by the first international service in March 2011.

ANA (All Nippon Airways) loses $235 million in its fiscal year

ANA (All Nippon Airways) (Tokyo) has reported a net loss of $235 million for its fiscal ending on March 31.

ANA orders five Bombardier Q400 turboprops

Bombardier Aerospace (Toronto) has confirmed that a firm order for five Q400 NextGen aircraft and options for another five, which was previously announced on August 3, 2009, was placed by All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd (ANA) (Tokyo).

ANA loses $603 million in its fiscal year 2009

ANA (All Nippon Airways) (Tokyo-Haneda) reported a net loss of $603 million for its fiscal year ending on March 31.

ANA to merge ANA and JP Express into Air Japan

ANA (All Nippon Airways) (Tokyo) has announced, as a result of a board decision on April 2, 2010, that two of its consolidated subsidiaries, namely Air Japan Company, Ltd. (โ€œAJXโ€) and ANA & JP Express Company, Ltd. (โ€œAJVโ€) will be merged. ANA has announced a merger target date of July 1, 2010. Air Japan will be the surviving carrier, operating Boeing 767-300s.
