SmartWings to add three new routes from Bratislava in June, will also start Prague-London Gatwick flights

SmartWings (brand of Travel Service Airlines) (Prague) is adding three new holiday routes from Bratislava starting in June: Olbia (June 14), Palma de Mallorca (June 13) and Rhodes (June 9) per Airline Route.

In addition, the carrier will also start seasonal service to London (Gatwick) from Prague from April 2. The route will be operated four days a week with Boeing 737-800s.

Niki to operate one of the shortest jet routes

Niki (FlyNiki) (Vienna) will introduce on April 1 one of world’s shortest jet routes, the 30-mile trip between its Vienna hub and Bratislava, Slovakia. The short route will be operated with Embraer 190s.

Niki is also adding service (six days a week) from Vienna to Athens in April. Niki already serves Crete, Rhodes, Santorini and Mykonos. The new route will operate daily (except on Saturday) with an Airbus A320.

Niki flight HG 8640 will take off from Vienna at 11:30 and land in the Greek capital at 13:35. The return flight HG 8641 will leave Athens at 14:25 and land in Vienna at 16:45.

Ryanair announces three new routes from Athens

Ryanair (Dublin) has announced three new routes from their Athens base, to Budapest, Bratislava and Santorini (Thira).

Ryanair announces a new base at Bratislava

Ryanair (Dublin) has announced it will open its first Slovakian base (overall the 71st base) at Bratislava in March 2015 with two based aircraft and 16 routes including a new route to Madrid.

Flydubai is coming to Bratislava, Prague and Sofia

Flydubai (Dubai) is expanding with new routes to eastern Europe. The fast-growing carrier will start three new routes from Dubai to Bratislava (twice-weekly starting on December 6), Prague (four weekly flights starting on December 5) and Sofia (twice-weekly starting on December 14) per Airline Route.

Danube Wings is unable to resume operations, lays off all employees

Danube Wings (VIP Wings dab) (Bratislava) was forced to suspended all flight operations from both Bratislava and Kosice on November 20. Since then the airline has now ceased all business operations and laid off all of its employees.

Operations commenced in August 2008.

DanubeWings to start Ostrava-Vienna service on January 14, 2013

DanubeWings (DanubeWings.com) (Bratislava) will start a new route connecting Ostrava (Czech Republic) with Vienna commencing on January 14, 2013. The new route will be flown with ATR 72s per Airline Route.
