Ryanair (Dublin) is supporting a positive vote on October 2 for Ireland to approve the Lisbon Treaty. A yes vote would bring European Union membership to Ireland, joining 26 other member countries.

Binter Canarias (Grand Canaria) on June 25, 2009 named its ATR 72-212A (ATR 72-500) EC-KGJ (msn 753) “Madeira” formally at Funchal Airport (FNC) on lsland of Madeira in an official ceremony. This aircraft was named after the Portuguese island, located just north of Canary Islands, due to a new partnership between the Spanish carrier and Windsor Travel. A water cannon salute was performed shortly after landing.
Avanti Air (Burbach) is now operating its ATR 72-202 D-ANFC (msn 237) for broker and travel agency flyonair.it (Pescara) effective April 20. The airliner has been painted in full flyonair.it colors and is being operated under an ACMI contract. D-ANFC is operating from Pescara to Catania, Milan (Malpensa), Naples, Olbia, Palermo and Turin (Turino).
KD Avia (Kaliningrad) suspended all operations on March 11, 2009 due to its on-going financial difficulties. However on March 13 it was able to restore operations after it secured “new arrangements” (i.e. state aid from the government) to stabilize the company. The aircraft leasing companies have now lifted the restrictions on the operation of the leased aircraft.

Lufthansa Italia (subsidiary of Lufthansa) (Milan-Malpensa) will start domestic flights on April 1 between Milan (Malpensa) and Rome, Naples and Bari with Airbus A319s. The new Italian-style airline within an airline (it currently uses LH’s AOC) commenced international operations on February 2 when flight LH 1790 departed MXP for Barcelona.
