KLM Cityhopper to retire the last Fokker 50 on March 27

KLM Cityhopper (Amsterdam) will retire its last Fokker F.27 Mk. 050 (Fokker 50) from revenue service on March 27.

Eurowings says goodbye to BAe 146-200 D-AJET “A-JET”

Eurowings (Nuremberg) is gradually replacing its BAe 146-200 and 146-300 fleet with newer Bombardier CRJ900s. On Thursday (November 26) the company said goodbye at the Nuremberg base to its long-time BAe 146-200 D-AJET (msn E2201) known in the company as “A-JET”. This picture is taken on the ramp at NUE picturing D-AJET heading to runway 28 for its delivery flight to Star Peru (Lima). The aircraft was flying to Keflavik via Glasgow that day. After an overnight crew rest stop, the second day would see the aircraft flying via Kangerlussuaq (Greenland) and Iqaluit (Canada) for a second overnight stop at Montreal (Trudeau). The third day the airliner was due to stop at Orlando, continuing on to San Josรฉ (Costa Rica). The last phase of the delivery flight is planned to go via Chiclayo (Peru) onward to the Lima base with a planned arrival date of November 29, 2009. Note the HF antenna on the top fuselage for communications over the North Atlantic. After being delivered on March 20, 1995 the dependable airliner operated for over 14 years with Eurowings. It is pictured in the Lufthansa Regional 2003 colors.

SunExpress orders six Boeing 737-800s

SunExpress Airlines (Antalya) has been identified as the unidentified customer that has ordered six Boeing 737-800s with Blended Winglets. The airline currently operates 15 737-800s.

Lufthansa retires its last Airbus A300

Lufthansa (Frankfurt) on July 1 operated its last Airbus A300 flight. A300B4-603 D-AIAM (msn 408) had the honor of operating the last revenue flight (LH 3853) from Rome (FCO) to Frankfurt.

Swiss and Nuremberg celebrate 30 years

Swiss A340-300 HB-JMN (01)(Grd) NUE (GM)(LR)Swiss A340-300 HB-JMN (01)(Salute) NUE (GM)(LR)Swiss International Air Lines (Zurich) sent its Airbus A340-313X HB-JMN (msn 175) to Nuremberg yesterday (July 2) to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the ZRH-NUE route. The route was started on July 2, 1979 with a Metroliner II of the company when it was called Crossair. The Airbus received the customary water cannon salute on arrival.

Blue Wings (Dusseldorf) remains grounded as its AOC still has not been reissued by the German government. Majority Russian owner (Alexander Lebedev) is threatening to transfer the grounded Airbus A320s to sister company Red Wings Airlines.

SunExpress Airlines (Antalya) is getting ready to celebrate its upcoming 20th Anniversary with this special “20 Years” blue sticker as seen on Boeing 737-8CX TC-SUJ (msn 32368) at night at Nuremberg. The company was originally formed in October 1989 as a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa. The company commenced operations in April of 1990.

Swiss International Air Lines (Zurich) will add the Zurich-Oslo route in mid-June. The new route will be flown with Airbus A319s.

Air Dolomiti (Verona) continues to retire its BAe 146 fleet as the new Embraer ERJ 195s arrive. The company has put its second BAe 146-300 (I-ADJG, msn E3169) into storage at Exeter. This follows the retirement of I-ADJF (msn E3193) in January. The remaining three 146-300s should be gone by the end of the year.
