Alaska Airlines, theย Seattle-area’s hometown airline, announced today new daily nonstop service from Paine Field-Snohomish County Airport inย Everett, Washington. When commercial service begins at the airport in the fall,ย Alaskaย will offer 13 nonstop departures to eight cities every day with premium service and low fares, further working to become the go-to airline for anyone living on the West Coast.

Alaska’sย all-jet service will connect Paine Field toย Las Vegas;ย Los Angeles;ย Orange County, California;ย Phoenix;ย Portland;ย San Diego;ย San Francisco; andย San Jose, California. Flight frequencies for each destination along with departure and arrival times will be announced later in 2018, subject to government approval.

Withย Alaska’sย new service from Paine Field, those looking to catch a flight north ofย Seattleย and all around the North Sound (home to more than 1 million people) will have a new travel option closer to home. That’ll mean less driving to go farther south, saving time and fuel.

All Paine Field services will be operated by Horizon Air (below).

Neos on December 12, 2017 took delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Named “Spirit of Italy”, the pictured Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner EI-NEO (msn 38785), arrived at the Milan (Malpensa) base the following day in the the new corporate livery. The aircraft performed a low fly-by before landing (below).

EI-NEO is leased from AerCap and is the first of three to be delivered with the second due in June, 2018 and the third in October 2018. The new Dreamliners will replace the older Boeing 767-300 ERs.

The airline is planning to operate the new type to Cancun, Freeport, La Romana, Male, Mombasa, Nossy-Be and Zanzibar.

On December 18, 2017 Boeing issued this statement:

Boeing, Neos and AerCap celebrated the delivery of the leisure carrier’s first Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Neos is leasing the 787-9 through an agreement with AerCap and becomes the first Italian operator of the airplane.

Neos becomes the 45th carrier to operate the 787 Dreamliner. AerCap, the world’s largest Dreamliner customer, plans to deliver two additional 787s to Neos by next year.

Italian industry, through Leonardo, is responsible for producing 14 percent of the 787’s airframe structure, including the two-piece center fuselage section, along with the airplane’s horizontal stabilizer.

Founded in 2001, Neos caters to Italy’s leisure market providing flights to destinations across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, China, and the Mediterranean. Neos is part of Alpitour World, the leading integrated leisure concern in Italy operating, apart from aviation, in tour operating, hotel management, destination management services and distribution. Neos is an all-Boeing carrier operating Next-Generation 737s, 767s and now the 787. It announced earlier this year that along with 787s, it also intends to lease Boeing’s latest single-aisle offering, the 737 MAX, from 2019.

QANTAS announces Melbourne-San Francisco route starting in late 2018, second Dreamliner named “Waltzing Matilda”

QANTAS' second Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, named "Waltzing Matilda" - Best Seller

QANTAS Airways (Sydney) on December 15, 2017 revealed the name of its second Dreamliner, and announced a new route, ahead of the aircraftโ€™s first scheduled international flight.

QANTAS International CEO Alison Webster was joined by the Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events, John Eren, at QANTASโ€™ engineering base in Melbourne to mark the naming as well as the Dreamlinerโ€™s first passenger service to Los Angeles.

Often called Australiaโ€™s unofficial national anthem, Waltzing Matilda was one of the 45,000 suggestions received from the public to name the airlineโ€™s new fleet of eight Dreamliners.

โ€œBanjo Paterson is said to have written Waltzing Matilda while working on a cattle station in the outback Queensland town of Winton, which was also the birth place of QANTAS 25 years later,โ€ Ms Webster said.

โ€œThe Melbourne-Los Angeles flight was the first international service that we put our very first Airbus A380 on in 2008, so thereโ€™s a nice symmetry with this being the first for our Dreamliner as well,โ€ added Ms Webster.

The QANTAS Dreamliner will initially operate six days a week on the 14-hour flight between Melbourne and Los Angeles, complementing the existing daily Airbus A380 service between the two cities.

QANTAS today also announced an all-new route to be operated by the Dreamliner, with the introduction of Melbourne to San Francisco service. The route will be on sale from early 2018 with flights expected to start by late 2018. Capacity between Melbourne and the US will be rebalanced to match demand for the two Californian cities, meaning that the Dreamliner will fly to Los Angeles some days of the week and San Francisco other days.

The QANTAS Dreamliner features 236 seats across three cabins including the acclaimed Business Suite, nicknamed โ€œmini First Classโ€ by some frequent flyers, as well as a next generation Premium Economy seat and a significantly improved Economy seat with extra storage compartments and device charging outlets.

QANTAS has so far taken delivery of two Boeing 787-9s. The arrival of its third and fourth aircraft early next year will enable the national carrier to start its historic Perth-London (Heathrow) flight, which originates in Melbourne. All eight aircraft will be delivered by the end of 2018, with half based in Melbourne and half based in Brisbane.

Earlier this year, QANTAS revealed all eight Dreamliner names; Great Southern Land, Waltzing Matilda, Great Barrier Reef, Skippy, Boomerang, Quokka, Uluru and Dreamtime. The sequencing of the names is being announced as the aircraft are delivered.
