Wow Air introduces new routes to Dusseldorf and Stuttgart

Wow Air (stylized as WOW Air) (Keflavik) on May 23 added two new routes from Keflavik (near Reykjavik) to both Dusseldorf and Stuttgart. The airline also intends to double its Airbus A320 fleet to four aircraft this summer.

United Airlines to drop San Francisco-Toronto service on April 1

United Airlines (Chicago) is dropping the nonstop San Francisco-Toronto (Pearson) route on April 1 per Airline Route. Additionally the carrier is reintroducing the Cleveland-Seattle/Tacoma daily route for the summer season on June 13.

Empire Airlines to operate the ATR 42-500s for Hawaiian Airlines

Empire Airlines (Idaho) (3rd) (Coeur d’Alene) will operate the newly-acquired ATR 42-500s for Hawaiian Airlines (Honolulu) according to this report by HNL Rarebirds. Hawaiian has signed a three-year MOU for Empire to operate and maintain the new type. Both N801HC and N804HC are currently at Empire’s base awaiting delivery to the islands.

Empire currently operates the type for FedEx Express as a FedEx Feeder. The company started operations in May 1977 as Clearwater Flying Service before changing to the current name in January 1983.

Fastjet to start operations this month from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Fastjet (Fastjet.com) (formerly Fly540) (Dar es Salaam) is planning to launch scheduled operations using the AOC of Fly540 (Five Forty Aviation) (Nairobi) which is being renamed and reenergized with Airbus A319s. According to Airline Route, November 29 is being targeted as the start-up date with two daily services on Dar es Salaam – Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam – Mwanza routes. The new carrier is also planning to operate from Dar es Salaam to Entebbe, Mombasa, Nairobi and Zanzibar.

Air Seychelles to fly to Hong Kong

Air Seychelles (Mahe) has announced it will introduce new services to Hong Kong in February 2013, subject to regulatory approvals, following the delivery of its second Airbus A330-200 aircraft in January 2013. The airline will operate three return services per week from the Seychelles to Hong Kong via Abu Dhabi.

Corsair to resume weekly service to Cancun on November 1

Corsair International (formerly Corsairfly) (Paris-Orly) is planning to resume weekly Paris (Orly)-Cancun service with Boeing 747-400s starting on November 1 according to Airline Route.

Starbow Airlines launches its first international route to Cotonou

Starbow Airlines (Accra) launched its first international route on August 13 from Accra to Cotonou, Benin.

Starbow is commencing Cotonou services with five flights per week but this service is expected to increase to daily flights within weeks. The nonstop flights will take 45 minutes only, thus reducing the travel time dramatically.
