Air Wisconsin to fly exclusively under the United Express livery by March 2018

Air Wisconsin Airlines (Appleton, WI) is phasing down its contract as an American Eagle operator.

Air Wisconsin Airlines, founded in 1965, operates nearly 350 departures per day system-wide to 26 states and 3 Canadian provinces with American Airlines and United Airlines, serving nearly 6 million passengers per year.

Air Wisconsin will be exclusively flying under the United Express livery by March of 2018.

The fleet is actively being repainted into United Express colors.

On March 1, 2017, Air Wisconsin announced a new agreement with United Airlines to once again operate under the United Express banner.

Air Wisconsin became an American Eagle operator when US Airways was merged into American. Air Wisconsin had previously been an US Airways Express operator. The American contract is due to expire in March 2018.

The remaining American Eagle routes radiate from the Philadelphia hub. They will all be gone by March 2018.

Meanwhile the expanding United Express routes radiate from the Washington (Dulles) and Chicago (O’Hare) UA Hubs.

Air Wisconsin is reestablishing a familiar route this summer. Starting this summer on June 8, 2018 Air Wisconsin will operate a nonstop flight from Appleton to Denver for United Airlines.

American to add new seasonal routes in 2018

American Airlines on June 9, 2018 will add weekly nonstop Airbus A319 service (above) from the Miami hub to diving destination of Bonaire in the ABC Islands in the Caribbean.

Alaso according to Airline Route, AA is also planning the following new seasonal domestic routes from its hubs:

Charlotte:

Nantucket – weekly service from June 23 – September 1, 2018 with Republic Airlines Embraer 175s.

Chicago O’Hare:

Daily service to Burlington, VT from June 7 to September 4, 2018 with Envoy Air Embraer ERJ 140s.

Daily service to Charleston, SC from May 4, 2018 with Envoy Air Embraer 175s.

Daily service to Missoula, MT from June 7, 2018 to September 4, 2018 with Envoy Air Embraer 175s.

Daily service to Portland, ME from June 7 to October 3, 2018 with Envoy AIr CRJ700s.

Daily service to Savannah, GA from June 7 to September 4, 2018 with Envoy Air ERJ 145s.

Daily service to Wilmington, NC from Junhe 7 to September 4, 2018 with Envoy Air CRJ700s.

Dallas/Fort Worth:

Weekly service to Flagstaff, AZ from June 9 to July 14, 2018 with ExpressJet CRJ700s.

American to expand Washington Reagan National operations next spring

American Airlines is planning to expand operations at Washington’s Reagan National Airport (DCA) with three new American Eagle routes. Republic Airlines will add daily DCA – Little Rock E175 jet service on April 3, 2018 per Airline Route.

Additionally PSA Airlines will add the DCA – Montgomery (CRJ200) route on June 7, 2018 and daily DCA – Tallahassee (CRJ900) service on February 15, 2018.

AA is also converting weekend service from DCA to both Destin/Fort Walton Beach and Myrtle Beach to daily service for the summer 2018 season.

Republic Airways Holdings and American Airlines reach a long term agreement, Shuttle America to be phased out

Republic Airways Holdings Inc. has announced it has reached an agreement with American Airlines that secures a long-term relationship between the two airlines and has also filed a motion for its approval in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

The amended agreement provides for:

a single capacity purchase agreement that prescribes the flying commitments and obligations of Republic and American related to the legacy American and US Airways capacity purchase agreements;
permitting the removal of certain aircraft, an extension in duration of Republic’s flying for certain aircraft for American, which will facilitate Republic’s ability to favorably restructure the remaining aircraft financing obligations, and allowing for the potential restoration of service of a certain number of aircraft, subject to Republic’s ability to secure suitable financing of the aircraft;
facilitates Republic’s transition to a single air carrier operating certificate by reconfiguring 80-seat aircraft to 76-seat configuration (Embraer 175s).

The parties anticipate that the motion will be heard before the Honorable Sean H. Lane on September 21, 2016. The new agreement will become effective in accordance with the terms of the Amendment following issuance of the approval order by the court.

American to add six American Eagle routes

American Eagle to fly the Chicago O’Hare – Albany, NY route

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) is adding American Eagle (operated by Envoy Air) Bombardier CRJ700 jet service from the Chicago (O’Hare) hub to Albany, New York starting on March 3, 2016.

In other news, Mesa Airlines will expand American Eagle services from the Phoenix hub to Lubbock, Memphis, Midland/Odessa and Roswell starting on March 3, 2016 per Airline Route.

Republic Airways pilots ratify a new three-year contract

Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (Republic Airlines 2nd and Shuttle America) (Indianapolis) has announced that the International Brotherhood of Teamsters’ (IBT) Local 357, which represent the approximately 2,100 pilots of Republic, have voted by a margin of 76% to ratify a new three-year contract, with approximately 85% of the eligible pilots voting.

The three-year agreement becomes effective on or about November 1. The agreement invests approximately $50 million a year on average over the three-year duration of the new agreement, including both the ratification bonus and the anniversary bonus. The new agreement includes significant improvements in work rules and pilot quality of life. Additionally, it establishes pay rates that recognize Republic’s pilots as leaders in the regional airline industry, including a transformational $40/hr first year new hire rate.

American to add jet service to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket next summer

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) starting on June 2 will add daily American Eagle Bombardier CRJ200 jet service (operated by Air Wisconsin) from Washington (Reagan National) to both Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket per Airline Route.

Air Wisconsin (Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation-AWAC) (formerly US Airways Express) (Appleton, WI) currently operates 71 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200s.

American to add three routes from New York LaGuardia, returns to normal operations after computer problems

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) on January 5, 2016 is adding daily American Eagle Embraer 175 regional jet service from New York (LaGuardia) to Cincinnati and Indianapolis. The carrier is also resuming service from LGA to Minneapolis/St. Paul on the same date per Airline Route.

In other news, AA is inserting the new Airbus A321-200 on the Miami – Guayaquil route starting on June 2, 2016.

Finally American today is returning to normal operations after “computer issues” delayed departures at three hubs yesterday. The airline issued this statement on Twitter:

We’ve resolved connectivity issues that caused challenges at DFW, ORD and MIA. We’re sorry and will have you on your way soon.

American to increase Embraer 175 operations from Los Angeles

American Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) is assigning more routes to Compass Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) from Los Angeles International Airport. Starting On September 9, Compass will operate its Embraer 175s on American Eagle flights from LAX to Fayetteville (Northwest Arkansas), Fresno, Oklahoma City and Reno.

This will be followed on November 5 with the Los Angeles – El Paso route.
