Bangkok Air’s (Bangkok) Airbus A319-132 HS-PGS (msn 3142) arrived at Southend with the new registration marks of M-ABCL from the Isle of Man. The airliner is due to go to a new operator.

Andalus Lineas Aereas (Malaga) has taken delivery of its third Embraer ERJ 145, registered EC-LCP (msn 145408), which wears this interesting hybrid scheme, based on the livery of its previous operator, the short-lived Australian carrier SkyAirWorld.

Air France-KLM enters the contest for JAL

Air France (Paris) and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (Amsterdam) have entered into separate discussions with JAL-Japan Airlines (Tokyo-Haneda) about a possible investment. Delta and American are also holding separate discussions. JAL intends to cut around 20 percent of its international flights by March 2012.

Southwest Airlines (Dallas) has repainted its Boeing 737-3H4 N629SW (msn 27704) known as “Silver One” into the current 2001 colors. N629SW originally was introduced in a metal top scheme in June 1996 celebrating its 25th Anniversary (Silver Anniversary). In 1999 the metal top was replaced with gray paint.

Air Canada (Montreal) has painted its Airbus A320-211 C-GQCA (msn 210) in the colors of the Irish rock band U2 with “ThreeSixtyAir” titles. The tourย isย in support of the group’s 2009 album “No Line on the Horizon”.ย ย The U2 360ยฐ Tour is named after the 360-degree staging and audience configuration it uses for shows,ย which U2 claims is “the first time a band has toured in stadiums with such a unique and original structure.” Previously AC decorated A320 C-FPWE for the U2 Vertigo Tour.

Med-View Airline leases Boeing 757-2G5 CS-TFK

Med-View Airline (The Airline of Nigeria) (Kano) is leasing Boeing 757-2G5 CS-TFK (msn 23983) from euroAtlantic Airways for the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage. The speciality airline specializes in charter flights to Saudi Arabia during the Hajj. Med-View commenced operations on November 27, 2007.

AeroSur (Bolivia) (Santa Cruz) added its first Boeing 737-300 in August in a dramatic way. The new type is painted in this special “Yacare” (alligator) color scheme and was introduced on September 3.

Jat Airways is poised for new Boeing 737NGs

Jat Airways (Belgrade) is reportedly getting ready to finalize a deal with Boeing for “up to five” new 737NGs. Previously the company had planned to add eight Airbus A319s in 2004 and then considered obtaining eight Boeing 737-800s starting in 2005. Any new airplanes will probably lead to a new livery.

Pace Airlines suspends all operations

Pace Airlines (Winston-Salem) yesterday (September 11) laid off its remaining employees and suspended all operations. This represents the second major employee job cut this week. 175-215 employees were let go on Tuesday. The company is currently under investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor for alleged non-payment of employees and has been promising to pay its employees for all deferred payments. Pace is also suing DirectAir’s parent for breach of contract. Charter operations began in 1996 flying a single Boeing 737-200 (N487GS) for the Charlotte Hornets.
