Air Lease Corporation (ALC) has announced it has completed an order for 30 Boeing 787-10 and three 787-9 Dreamliners. The order, valued at $9.4 billion at list prices, fulfills the commitment originally announced during the 2013 Paris Air Show in June.

The new 787-10, launched in June 2013, will extend and complement the Dreamliner family, carrying 300 to 330 passengers up to 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 km), while providing 25 percent more fuel efficiency than airplanes of its size today and more than 10 percent better than anything being offered by the competition for the future. The 787-9 completed its first flight this week and is scheduled for first delivery in mid 2014.

This order for 787-9s and 787-10s adds to the more than 180 Boeing airplanes that ALC already has on order including Next-Generation 737-800s, 737 MAX 8s and 9s, 777-300ERs and 787-9s.ย  The 787-10, which will deliver in 2018, has 102 orders and commitments from five customers.

Boeing launches the 787-10, ALC, GECAS, IAG-British Airways, Singapore Airlines and United Airlines place orders

Boeing 787-10 Ad (Boeing)(LR)

Boeing (Chicago) announced today at the 2013ย Paris Airshowย that it has launched the 787-10 Dreamliner, the third member of the super-efficient 787 family. Commitments for 102 airplanes from five customers across Europe, Asia and North America provide a strong foundation to support development and production of the newest Dreamliner.

Customer launch commitments for the 787-10 includeย Air Lease Corporation, with 30 airplanes; GE Capital Aviation Services, with 10; International Airlines Group /ย British Airways, with 12 subject to shareholder approval; Singapore Airlines, with 30 and United Airlines, with 20 airplanes.

The new 787-10 will fly up to 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 km) โ€” covering more than 90 percent of the world’s twin-aisle routes โ€” with seating for 300-330 passengers, depending on an airline’s configuration choices. The second member of the family, the 787-9, is in final assembly in Everett, Wash., and is set to make its first flight later this year.

“The 787-10 Dreamliner will be the most-efficient jetliner in history. The airplane’s operating economics are unmatched and it has all the incredible passenger-pleasing features that set the 787 family apart as truly special,” saidย Boeing Commercial Airplanesย President and CEO Ray Conner. “The 787-10 is 25 percent more efficient than airplanes of its size today and more than 10 percent better than anything being offered by the competition for the future.”

Design of the 787-10 has already started atย Boeing, and international partners will be involved in detailed design in the months ahead. Final assembly and flight test of the 787-10 are set to begin in 2017, with first delivery targeted for 2018.

“Our ongoing investment in the 787 family is well-founded,” said Conner.ย  “With the 787-10, we’ve designed an exceptional airplane supported by an efficient and integrated production system that can meet increasing demands and create new opportunities for us. Our team and our customers are excited about growing the product line and expanding our presence with this family of airplanes.”

The 787 family’s unique interior offers passengers technologies that make their flights more enjoyable, including large, dimmable windows; cleaner air; higher humidity; lower cabin altitude; bigger stowage bins; soothing LED lighting and a smoother ride. The 787-10 will share a common type rating not only with the 787-8 and 787-9 but also with the popularย Boeingย 777, giving airlines additional flexibility in scheduling and training flight crews.

United Airlines issued this statement:

United Airlines today increased its 787 Dreamliner order to 65 aircraft (including six previously delivered aircraft) with an order for 20 787-10s.Unitedย is theย North Americanย launch customer for the 787-10 and it expects delivery of its first aircraft in 2018. United ordered 10 incremental 787-10 aircraft and will convert 10 existing 787s on order to 787-10s, enabling theย airlineย to further modernize its international widebody fleet by replacing older, less efficient aircraft. The advanced technology and composite construction of the 787 reduce fuel burn and carbon emissions, while providing a superior customer experience.

United is currently the only U.S. airline to operate the 787. United has six new 787-8 aircraft in service and had previous orders for an additional 49 Dreamliners consisting of both the -8 and -9 variants. The 787-10 is a stretched version of the 787-9 and will offer the lowest fuel burn per seat of any aircraft in its size category. The 787 offers up to 20 percent better fuel efficiency per seat than similarly sized aircraft, due in part to the more than 50 percent composite makeup of its structure. The 787 also boasts an enhanced inflight experience including larger windows, larger overhead bins and lower cabin altitude with enhanced ventilation systems that reduce the effects of jet lag.

The 787-10 order is the latest in United’s commitment to improve the efficiency of its fleet. In July of last year, United announced a narrowbody order for 100ย Boeing 737ย MAX 9 aircraft and 50 Boeing 737-900ER aircraft. In addition, United has an order for 25 Airbus A350 aircraft. Theย airlineย is also modernizing itsย United Expressย fleet by adding 70 76-seat Embraer aircraft that will be operated by United Express regional partners.

Boeing and Air Lease Corporation announce order for 75 737 MAXs

Boeing (Chicago) and Air Lease Corporation (Los Angeles) announced today a firmย order for 60 737 MAX 8 and 15 737 MAX 9 airplanes, with reconfirmation rights for 25 additional 737 MAXs. The order, with a list-price value of $7.2 billion, represents the first 737 MAX order by a leasing company.

Airlines operating the 737 MAX will see a 13 percent fuel burn improvement over today’s most fuel efficient single-aisle airplanes and an eight percent operating cost per seat advantage over tomorrow’s competition.

ALC has ordered a total of 170 airplanes from Boeing including 75 737 MAX, 78 Next-Generation 737-800s, five 777-300ERs (Extended Range) and 12 787-9 Dreamliners.

Air Lease Corporation (ALC) (Los Angeles) has signed a firm contract for 36 A320neo Family aircraft, 20 of which will be of the larger A321neo model in line with the market trend towards larger aircraft across all market segments, plus 14 options.

This firm contract follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the 2011 Paris Le Bourget Airshow. Engine selection for the aircraft will be made at a later date. Boeing and ALC finalize order for 787s and Next-Generation 737s

Boeing (Chicago) and Air Lease Corporation (ALC) (Los Angeles) have finalized an order for four 787-9 Dreamliners. ALC also exercised options for four Next-Generation 737-800s. The airplanes join the 74 Next-Generation 737-800s and five 777-300 ER (Extended Range) airplanes that ALC currently has on order.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is a slightly larger version of the 787-8 and will carry 250-290 passengers on routes of 8,000 to 8,500 nautical miles (14,800 to 15,750 kilometers). The 787 provides airlines with incredible fuel efficiency, resulting in exceptional environmental performance. The airplane uses 20 percent less fuel than today’s similarly sized airplanes. It also will travel at a speed of March 0.85, which is similar to the speed of today’s fastest wide-body airplanes.

The order increases the number of 787-9s on order to 270 airplanes from customers located all over the world. The 787 Dreamliner family, including the 787-8 and 787-9, has accumulated a total of 825 orders.
