Ryanair to launch three new winter routes from Copenhagen

Ryanair (Dublin) hasย announced more growth at its Copenhagen base with three new routes from October 2015 to Alicante, Budapest and Malaga, as part of Ryanairโ€™s 2015 winter schedule. These three new routes will add to Ryanairโ€™s nine Copenhagen routes already operated to Brussels, Cologne/Bonn, Dublin, London (Stansted), Madrid, Milan (Malpensa), Rome, Stockholm and Warsaw.

Emirates to bring the Airbus A380 to Copenhagen, double daily to Zurich

Emirates (Dubai) continues to add more Airbus A380 services. The fast-growing carrier has announced a second daily Airbus A380 service to Zurich.

Commencing on Thursday October 1, 2015, Emirates flights EK 85/86, currently operated by a Boeing 777-300 ER, will be upgraded to an A380. The first A380 was introduced on the route in January 2014.

Emirates flight EK 85 departs Dubai International Airport at 15.45 and arrives in Zurich at 20:20. The outbound flight EK 86 departs from Zurich at 22:15 and arrives in Dubai at 06:25 the following day.

Emirates also announced the launch of a daily Airbus A380 service to Copenhagen. As of December 1, 2015, the Danish capital will be the first in Scandinavia to boast a scheduled A380 service.

Emirates flight EK 151 will leave Dubai at 0820 and arrive in Copenhagen at 1220 the same day. The return flight EK 152 will depart Copenhagen at 1420 and arrive in Dubai at 2335 the same day.

Emirates is also adding a second daily A380 flight on the Dubai โ€“ London Gatwick route with the introduction of second daily A380 service on permanent basis.

In other news, Emirates willย increase its capacity to the Indian Ocean Island of Seychelles, when it switches from the current Airbus A330-200 used on one of the two daily services to a larger Boeing 777-300 ER from ย June 1, 2015.

The introduction of the Emirates Boeing 777-300 ER, which operates as flight EK 705 from Dubai and as EK 706 on the return flight, will increase overall capacity on the route by 1722 seats per week and will make the route an all-Boeing 777 operation.

On the cargo side,ย Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, will soon be adding the Indonesian Island of Bali to its Asia Pacific network, opening up a new trade lane between the island and the cargo carrierโ€™s network of more than 140 destinations.

Bali will become Emirates SkyCargoโ€™ s 2nd gateway in Indonesia and 24th Asia Pacific point in its global network.

With the launch of its daily service to Bali, Emirates SkyCargo will offer 294 tons of cargo capacity per week both ways in the belly hold of a Boeing 777-300 ER which will be used on the route. The new Bali service will bring to four the number of daily flights Emirates SkyCargo has to Indonesia – three of which are to the countryโ€™s capital Jakarta.

Greenland Express is planning to resume operations in May

Greenland Express A320 Seating Chart

Greenland Express (Aalborg) is planning to resume operations on May 11, 2015, this time using a leased 168-seat Airbus A320-200 from an unnamed carrier. The A320 will operate from Billund toย Kangerlussuaq and Narsarsuaq in Greenland via Copenhagen (Kastrup). The flights will operate until late October.

Last time the virtual airline depended on Denim Air Fokker 100s. The company suspended flight operations on September 18, 2014.

Ryanair produces a 3Q net profit of $55.9 million, expands at Copenhagen

Ryanair (Dublin) reported a fiscal third quarter net profit ofย โ‚ฌ49 million ($55.9 million), reversing a previous third quarterย โ‚ฌ1.13 billion net loss a year ago.

In other news, Ryanair is expanding operations at Copenhagen, starting on March 26 with new daily routes to London (Luton), Milan (Bergamo) and Warsaw (Modlin) per Airline Route.

The ultra low fare airline will expand again on September 2 at CPH with new daily routes to Madrid (Barajas) and Rome (Ciampino).

Again on October 25, the airline will continue its expansion with new daily routes to Charleroi (near Brussels) and Skavsta (near Stockholm).

Primera Air continues to expand from Scandinavia and Iceland

Primera Air (Scandinavia) (Copenhagen) is opening up new routes for the current winter season. On October 26, the company launched weekly service from Gothenburg and Malmo to Dubai (Al Maktoum), Helsinki to Fuerteventura and Las Palmas and from Malmo to Tenerife Sur.

Furthermore, late this month, the airline will start four new weekly routes; Aalborg-Las Palmas (December 19), Copenhagen-Billund-Lanzarote (December 19), Aarhus-Tenerife Sur (December 20) and Aalborg-Fuerteventura (December 22) per Airline Route.

In other related news, Primera Air (Iceland) (Keflavik) launched a new route to New York (JFK) on November 16 after acquiring rights to serve the United States.

Ryanair selects Copenhagen as its new Danish base

Ryanair (Dublin) has announced it will open its second Danish base (70 in total) at Copenhagen in March 2015 with up to four based Boeing 737-800 aircraft and starting with three new routes to London, Milan and Warsaw, with an additional 10 more new routes to be announced in the New Year. Ryanair will base its first Boeing 737-800 in Copenhagen from March and 3 more units later in 2015.

Norwegian Long haul to launch two new Boeing 787 routes to Orlando

Norwegian Long haul (Norwegian Air Shuttle) (Norwegian.com) (Oslo) continues to develop long-range operations and launching new routes from Copenhagen to Orlando, and between London Gatwick and Orlando. In addition, the company is also increasing frequencies on several existing destinations between Europe and the USA.

The new nonstop route to Orlando, Florida will be the fifth long distance flight from Copenhagen and the fourth from London Gatwick. Norwegian flies previously between Oslo and Orlando.

As previously reported, Norwegian started operations to Orlando International Airport (MCO) on May 29, 2014.

Norwegian will fly once a week (Mondays) from Copenhagen to Orlando, starting on March 30, 2015.

Norwegian will fly once a week (Saturdays) between London Gatwick and Orlando starting on April 4, 2015.

Norwegian is also increasing the number of flights between the following destinations: Stockholm – Oakland, increased from two to three flights a week, Oslo – Los Angeles extended from one to two times a week, London Gatwick – New York (JFK) expanded from three to six flights a week and London Gatwick – Los Angeles expanded from two to four times a week.

Air Canada to operate the Boeing 787 on the Toronto-Copenhagen route

Air Canada (Montreal) on October 26 will introduce the new Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on the Toronto (Pearson)-Copenhagen route. The new aircraft will operate three days a week replacing a Boeing 767-300 ER until December 31 per Airline Route.

Norwegian to launch nonstop Boeing 787 Copenhagen-Bangkok service on October 30

Norwegian Long Haul (Norwegian Air Shuttle) (Norwegian.com) (Oslo) on October 30 will launch a new Boeing 787 route between Copenhagen and Hong Kong. The new route will operate twice a week. Norwegian already offers nonstop routes between Bangkok and both Oslo and Stockholm.

Norwegian will have a fleet of 17 Dreamliners, with seven currently in service and one more will be delivered in 2014.

Norwegian launches its new route to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood with its third Boeing 787

Norwegian Air Shuttle (Norwegian.com) (Norwegian Long Haul) (Oslo) today launched its first nonstop flight from Scandinavia to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood in South Florida. The first flight departed from Copenhagen. Tomorrow is the first nonstop flight to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood from Oslo and on Sunday from Stockholm (Arlanda). The flight took off with Norwegian’s third and newest 787-8 (EI-LNC, msn 34795) which was delivered on November 27.

Norwegian greeted passengers on the first nonstop flight between Scandinavia and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood. Norwegian’s CEO Bjorn Kjos cut the ribbon and declared the line open.

“It’s a milestone that we are opening our first long distance route from Copenhagen and it is with pleasure that we can now welcome the first passengers on board. Our first long-haul routes from Stockholm and Oslo earlier this year has been much appreciated and we are delighted to now offer passengers from Denmark nonstop flights to Florida in our new 787 Dreamliner, the world’s most modern passenger aircraft”, said Norwegian’s CEO Bjorn Kjos.
