Emirates SkyCargo (Dubai), the freight division of Emirates (Dubai), is set to expand its United States cargo network to 11 destinations, when the airline launches a daily service to Orlando, Florida from September 1, 2015.
The Dubai โ Orlando route will be served by a Boeing 777-200 LR aircraft, which has a belly-hold capacity of up to 17 tons of cargo per flight. Emirates SkyCargo also has belly-hold cargo services to San Francisco, Seattle/Tacoma, Washington D.C., Boston, Dallas/Fort Worth, New York (JFK), Los Angeles, Chicago (O’Hare) and Houston (Bush Intercontinental), with the latter four cities also forming part of the air cargo carrierโs United States freighter network, along with Atlanta.
Emirates flight EK 219 will depart Dubai International Airport at 0350hrs local time and arrive at Orlando International Airport Terminal at 1140hrs local time. The return flight, EK 220 will depart Orlando International at 1420hrs and arrive into Dubai at 1230hrs the following day.

Emirates (Dubai) continues to add more Airbus A380 services. The fast-growing carrier has announced a second daily Airbus A380 service to Zurich.
Commencing on Thursday October 1, 2015, Emirates flights EK 85/86, currently operated by a Boeing 777-300 ER, will be upgraded to an A380. The first A380 was introduced on the route in January 2014.
Emirates flight EK 85 departs Dubai International Airport at 15.45 and arrives in Zurich at 20:20. The outbound flight EK 86 departs from Zurich at 22:15 and arrives in Dubai at 06:25 the following day.
Emirates also announced the launch of a daily Airbus A380 service to Copenhagen. As of December 1, 2015, the Danish capital will be the first in Scandinavia to boast a scheduled A380 service.
Emirates flight EK 151 will leave Dubai at 0820 and arrive in Copenhagen at 1220 the same day. The return flight EK 152 will depart Copenhagen at 1420 and arrive in Dubai at 2335 the same day.
Emirates is also adding a second daily A380 flight on the Dubai โ London Gatwick route with the introduction of second daily A380 service on permanent basis.
In other news, Emirates willย increase its capacity to the Indian Ocean Island of Seychelles, when it switches from the current Airbus A330-200 used on one of the two daily services to a larger Boeing 777-300 ER from ย June 1, 2015.
The introduction of the Emirates Boeing 777-300 ER, which operates as flight EK 705 from Dubai and as EK 706 on the return flight, will increase overall capacity on the route by 1722 seats per week and will make the route an all-Boeing 777 operation.
On the cargo side,ย Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, will soon be adding the Indonesian Island of Bali to its Asia Pacific network, opening up a new trade lane between the island and the cargo carrierโs network of more than 140 destinations.
Bali will become Emirates SkyCargoโ s 2nd gateway in Indonesia and 24th Asia Pacific point in its global network.
With the launch of its daily service to Bali, Emirates SkyCargo will offer 294 tons of cargo capacity per week both ways in the belly hold of a Boeing 777-300 ER which will be used on the route. The new Bali service will bring to four the number of daily flights Emirates SkyCargo has to Indonesia – three of which are to the countryโs capital Jakarta.

Emirates (Dubai) is planning to operate the last scheduled Airbus A340-500 flight on September 30 (subject to change) on the Kabul – Dubai route per Airline Route.
In other news, Emirates is introducing a second daily flight on the Dubai – Seattle/Tacoma route starting on July 7.

Emirates (Dubai) has announced it is commencing a daily service to Orlando, Florida from September 1, 2015. The route will be served by Boeing 777-200LR aircraft with eight First Class suites, 42 Business Class lie-flat beds and 216 Economy Class seats.
Emirates flight EK 219 will depart Dubai International Terminal 3 (DXB) at 03:50 hours local time and arrive at Orlando International Airport (MCO) Terminal B at 11.40 hours local time, a flying time of 15 hours 50 minutes. The return flight, EK 220 will depart Orlando International at 14:20 hours and arrive into Dubai at 12:30 the following day, a 14 hours 10 minutes flight.

Emirates (Dubai) has announced that it will launch a new daily service to the island of Bali in Indonesia, from June 3, 2015.
Bali will be Emiratesโ 148th global destination, adding to the airlineโs route network in the Asia Pacific region which currently spans 23 destinations in 13 countries. The nonstop service between Dubai and Bali will be operated by a Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft in a two-class configuration.
Emiratesโ new daily flight to Bali will depart Dubai as flight EK 398 at 0820 and arrive at Baliโs Denpasar International Airport at 2140 the same day. The return flight, EK 399, will depart at 2340 and arrive at Dubai International Airport at 0500 the next day.
Emirates commenced services to Indonesia in 1992 with three flights per week via Singapore and Colombo, and since March 2013, the airline has been operating three nonstop flights daily from Jakarta to Dubai with a Boeing 777 aircraft.

Flydubai (marketed as flydubai) (subsidiary of Emirates) (Dubai) has announced the launch of flights to Ahwaz, Hamadan, Esfahan, Shiraz and Tabriz in Iran. The announcement will see flydubaiโs Iranian network grow to seven points, adding to the launch of flights to Tehran and Mashhad in 2014. Flights to Shiraz, Esfahan and Ahwaz will commence on March 8, 11 and 14 respectively. Hamadan and Tabriz will join the flydubai network on March 16.

Emirates (Dubai) averages the installation of more than three aircraft per week for special decals. The airline explains the process:
It was a busy year for the team at Emiratesโ Aircraft Appearance Centre, who successfully completed more than three aircraft decal installations in an average week, bringing the total number of installations to 157 in 2014.
When a new aircraft arrives to join Emiratesโ fleet, the team at the Aircraft Appearance Centre get busy working on the aircraft for decal installations, such as the โWorld Expo 2020 โ Dubai Host Cityโ logo (above and below) which is proudly emblazoned on all of Emiratesโ 58 A380 aircraft.
A team of 14 are specialized in the installation of decals on aircraft at Emiratesโ Aircraft Appearance Centre. The in-house decal production facility is approximately 250 square meters in size and has the capability to print and install decals like the World Expo 2020 logo, in less than four hours with a team of two people. Larger and more complex decals could take up to 24 hours to print and install.
โItโs a fairly detailed process,โ says Naveed Khan, Manager of the Aircraft Appearance Centre, when asked about how decals are made and then installed on an aircraft.
โIn terms of the fabrication phase, we first receive the master design from the Corporate Communications, Marketing & Brand department. We then convert it into a working document and then match the colours in the master design to the print output by testing different combinations of colours. The graphic is then broken down into various parts or tiles according to the print media being used. Finally, it is printed, laminated and cut to size.โ
โWhen it comes to the actual installation, we prepare the area, take the necessary reference points on the fuselage, temporarily lay down the decal and then affix it, piece by piece, to the aircraft. Decals which are installed for longer periods of time are also scratch guarded and a clear coat is applied to prevent any erosion.โ
Emiratesโ in-house decal installation facility means that the paint shop team no longer need to source decals from third parties, resulting in significant cost and time savings, as well as the ability for last minute revisions to be made the decals, and ensuring a perfect fit on the aircraft fuselage.
โAircraft decals are a bit like temporary tattoos. We wear them proudly on our fleet to tell a story, and celebrate Emiratesโ association with key global events and activities that touch and inspire our customers and people around the world,โ said Keith Carter, Vice President, Overhaul Workshops, Emirates Engineering.
Emirates first began putting decals on its aircraft 13 years ago to promote the Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises. The airline is a long-time sponsor of both these key calendar events in Dubai.
Emirates has also created and installed aircraft decals for the 2014 FIFA World Cupโข (above), its sponsorship of Real Madrid C.F. and Paris Saint Germain and even installed a one-off decal celebrating Mauritiusโ 45th anniversary of independence during the first commercial A380 flight to the country in 2013.
Currently, in addition to the โWorld Expo 2020 โ Dubai Host Cityโ logo, Emirates also has 10 A380 aircraft emblazoned with the ICC Cricket World Cup logo (above) flying across the globe, spreading the excitement for the sport and reaching out to passionate cricket fans across the world.

Flydubai (Dubai) flight FZ 215 from Dubai to Baghdad, Iraq was shot at last night (January 26) while on approach to Baghdad International Airport with 154 passengers and crew members on board. The Boeing 737-800 was hit by three or four small arms bullets. As a result Air Arabia, Emirates and Etihad Airways have suspended operations to Baghdad.
