Frontier Airlines adds two new routes today from Denver

Frontier Airlines (2nd) today (May 3) launched new nonstop service between the carrierโ€™s Denver hub and both Newport News/Williamsburg, VA (PHF) and Madison, WI (MSN). The carrier also launched nonstop service between Kansas City, MO (MCI) and Columbus, OH (CMH). The service is part of a significant period of growth for the Denver-based carrier, which is growing by 7 percent in seat miles this year, making it the fastest-growing major airline in the United States.

In the coming weeks, Frontier Airlines will launch service between Denver and Fairbanks, AK; Grand Rapids, MI.; Long Beach, CA.; New Orleans; and Santa Barbara, CA. The carrier will also launch service from Milwaukee to both Seattle/Tacoma and from Kansas City to New Orleans.

On April 13, Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. announced that Frontier Airlines would be the face of its branded operation, combining Frontier and Midwest Airlines into one carrier. Although all flights can now be purchased at FrontierAirlines.com, Frontier and Midwest will continue to integrate technology over the next six to nine months and during this time period customers are reminded to continue checking in with the operating airline for their flight.

Frontier Airlines to add the Gogo system to the 32 Embraer ERJ 170s and ERJ 190s

Frontier Airlines (2nd) (Denver), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. (Indianapolis), has announced it will add the Gogoยฎ inflight internet service on its Embraer fleet. Frontier plans to have the service installed on its fleet of 32 ERJ 170 and ERJ 190 aircraft by the end of 2010.

Gogo internet access will be available for purchase starting at $4.95, based on length of flight and type of device used to access Gogo. Once connected, customers can use Gogo to check e-mail, log into a corporate VPN, watch their favorite Frontier commercials and more.

Republic Airways Holdings reports 4Q and 2009 financial results

Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (Indianapolis) yesterday (February 24) reported net income of $20.1 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2009, compared to $19.0 million of net income, for the same period last year. The fourth quarter results for 2009 include $109.2 million of goodwill and other impairment charges and a $203.7 million gain on bargain purchase related to the acquisition of Frontier Airlines. These two non-recurring items increased pre-tax income by $94.5 million and net income by $17.1 million for the quarter. Additionally, the Company recorded a year-end tax adjustment, which increased net income by $2.1 million for the quarter. Excluding these non-recurring items, income before taxes was $1.5 million and net income was $0.9 million.

For the full year ended December 31, 2009, net income for the year was $39.7 million, compared to $84.6 million of net income.

During the quarter the Company acquired Frontier Airlines and its 62 operational aircraft. The Company also took delivery of six of the ten Embraer ERJ 190 aircraft purchased from US Airways during the quarter and removed the final six Boeing 717-200 aircraft from its fleet, bringing the total operational fleet from 228 aircraft at September 30, 2009 to 290 aircraft at December 31, 2009.

Paramount Airways gets into dispute with GECAS over three ERJs

Paramount Airways (Chennai) is in a dispute with lessor GECAS over payments concerning three Embraer E-Jets.

LOT Polish Airlines (Warsaw) has introduced a new logojet to promote tourism to Krakow and the surrounding Malopolska (Lesser Poland) region. Midwest Airlines to return to Fort Lauderdale

Midwest Airlines (Milwaukee) will seasonally return to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood on December 17 (through April 19) from Milwaukee. The reinstated route will be flown as a Midwest Connect flight with Embraer ERJ 170s operated by sister airline Republic Airlines (2nd) (Indianapolis). Midwest will also have Republic operate the Kansas City-Fort Myers route also from December 17 through April 19, 2010.

Finnair (Helsinki) is cutting capacity overall by nine percent. Travel to Asia is slumping which was part of its overall long-term strategy. However travel to North America remains robust.
