Silver Airways to add Panama City, Florida as its newest destination, will also add Charleston, SC

Silver Airways (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood and Gainesville) is continuing to expand its Florida flying by introducing service from its 12th Sunshine State airport: Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) in Panama City, Florida. On March 19, 2015, the airline is starting nonstop service from Panama City to both Orlando and Tampa. The two new routes are not currently being serviced from Panama City.

Starting March 19, 2015, Silver will operate two daily nonstop flights between Panama City and Orlando, as well as daily nonstop service between Panama City and Tampa.

Starting March 19, 2015, Silver Airways is also launching nonstop service between Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) and Pensacola International Airport (PNS). The flights will operate on weekdays Monday through Friday with continuing service to/from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood.

In other news, Silver Airways is also extending its routes from Tampa and Orlando to Charleston, South Carolina starting on March 19.

Frontier Airlines to outsource 1,160 airport jobs at Denver International Airport, cuts back routes at Trenton

Frontier Airlines (2nd) (Denver), under its new ownership group, is slashing 1,160 Denver jobs according to the Denver Post. The company informed its Denver employees yesterday it is outsourcing all ramp, baggage, gate and ticket counter positions at Denver International Airport according to the report. Contractor Swissport will take over the positions in March. Denver was the last Frontier station that serviced its flights with its own in-house employees.

In other news, Frontier Airlines discontinued service from Trenton (Mercer County) to Nashville, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Cleveland on January 6 due to low demand.

Allegiant Air to start new service from Tulsa to St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Los Angeles and Las Vegas

Allegiant Air (Las Vegas) has announce the expansion of nonstop jet service from Tulsa, Oklahoma with new routes to St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Seasonal twice weekly service from Tulsa International Airport (TUL) to St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) begins on May 7, 2015 and will operate through August 18, 2015.

Seasonal twice weekly service to Los Angeles via Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) begins on June 5, 2015 and operates through August 18, 2015

Flights to Las Vegas via McCarran International Airport (LAS) begins on April 8, 2015. The year-round flights to Las Vegas will operate three times weekly.

Silver Airways is coming to St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport

Silver Airways (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood and Gainesville) is expanding its Florida flying and launching service from its 11th Sunshine State airport: St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. Today Silver Airways announced it is starting nonstop service from St. Petersburg/Clearwater to both Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood and Key West on March 12, 2015. The two new routes are not currently being serviced from St. Petersburg-Clearwater.

Starting March 12, 2015, Silver will operate two daily flights between St. Petersburg-Clearwater and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, and a daily flight between St. Petersburg-Clearwater and Key West.

With this new service Silver Airways will serve both sides of Tampa Bay.

All of Silver’s flights are operated with its fleet of 27 highly reliable and fuel-efficient 34-seat SAAB 340B Plus turbo-prop aircraft.

Spirit Airlines is adding more flights from Boston Logan Airport

Spirit Airlines (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) is adding more flights to Boston Logan Airport, with new daily nonstop service from Boston to Las Vegas, and seasonal service from Boston to Detroit and Cleveland, beginning in April 2015.

With these additional routes Spirit Airlines will now operate nonstop flights from Boston to ten cities. Current routes include: Atlantic City, Chicago (O’Hare), Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Fort Myers, Myrtle Beach, and West Palm Beach. The daily service to Las Vegas and the seasonal service to Detroit and Cleveland will begin on April 16, 2015.

JetBlue Airways today adds four new routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport

JetBlue Airways (New York) today (October 29) expands its destination offerings at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) with the addition of four new routes. The new flights include daily service to Cartagena, Colombia; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; as well as a twice daily service to Jacksonville, Florida.

By 2017, JetBlue plans to offer 100 daily flights out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood to meet increasing customer demand. In May of this year, JetBlue added flights from FLL to Montego Bay, Jamaica; Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

JetBlue currently offers up to 75 daily flights to 33 destinations from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood.

Spirit Airlines is coming to Cleveland starting on January 15

Spirit Airlines (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) has announced Cleveland will be the 57th city to join its expanding route network, with new service to eight cities. Service starts on January 15, 2015 to three cities, with three more starting February 5, 2015, and two more on April 16, 2015.

Here are the new routes from CLE (start date and number of days per week):

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport opens its extended south runway

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) yesterday (September 18) opened its rebuilt and extended south runway, 10R-28L. JetBlue Airways flight 1028 was the first flight to landed on the longer runway.

Spirit Airlines moves up the start dates of five new routes

Spirit Airlines (Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood) will take delivery of some of its Airbus A320 “Fit Fleet (TM)” planes sooner than originally planned and has moved up the start date for daily flights in five routes.

The new Airbus A320 planes will arrive this fall and will be added to Spirit’s current fleet of 58 Airbus aircraft.

Spirit Airlines:

Southwest Airlines launches Mexican flights to Cancun and San Jose del Cabo/Los Cabos

Southwest Airlines (Dallas) launched its initial service to Mexico with inaugural flights over the weekend. The nonstop routes previously served by wholly owned subsidiary AirTran Airways now operate daily between Orange County/Santa Ana and San Jose del Cabo/Los Cabos, Mexico, and between Cancun and both Atlanta and Baltimore/Washington.

Saturday-only service on Southwest between Milwaukee and Cancun begins August 16, 2014.

The Company plans to fully convert all international and domestic service currently flown by AirTran to Southwest by the end of this year. The carriers’ flights schedules are published through March 6, 2015, and are available for purchase at southwest.com.

AirTran Airways continues to operate daily service between Mexico City and Orange County/Santa Ana until the route converts to Southwest Airlines service on Nov. 2, 2014.

Southwest Airlines began international service on July 1 with flights to Oranjestad, Aruba; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and Nassau, The Bahamas, in the Caribbean. International service from Denver begins Oct. 7. Additional international service from Chicago (Midway), Austin, and San Antonio begins Nov. 2, the same day Southwest Airlines begins serving Punta Cana, Dominican Republic*, and Mexico City.
