Delta to resume New York (JFK) – Keflavik, Iceland flights this summer

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) will once again be offering nonstop daily flights between Keflavik International Airport (near Reykjavik) and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport for the 2015 summer season.

Starting May 2, the U.S. airline has scheduled a Boeing 757-200 aircraft on the route, which is operated in conjunction with Deltaโ€™s joint venture partners Air France and KLM.

Wow Air will now start flights from Baltimore-Washington (BWI) on May 8

Wow Air (Keflavik) has moved forward its start of service fromย Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) to Keflavik (KEF) (near Reykjavik) from June 4 to May 8. Initially the new route will operate four days a week with Airbus A320s. On June 11 this will expand to five days a week. The carrier will also operate to Boston starting on March 27.

Primera Air continues to expand from Scandinavia and Iceland

Primera Air (Scandinavia) (Copenhagen) is opening up new routes for the current winter season. On October 26, the company launched weekly service from Gothenburg and Malmo to Dubai (Al Maktoum), Helsinki to Fuerteventura and Las Palmas and from Malmo to Tenerife Sur.

Furthermore, late this month, the airline will start four new weekly routes; Aalborg-Las Palmas (December 19), Copenhagen-Billund-Lanzarote (December 19), Aarhus-Tenerife Sur (December 20) and Aalborg-Fuerteventura (December 22) per Airline Route.

In other related news, Primera Air (Iceland) (Keflavik) launched a new route to New York (JFK) on November 16 after acquiring rights to serve the United States.

Lufthansa to fly to Aalborg and Keflavik

Lufthansa (Frankfurt) will expand its European services in next yearโ€™s summer flight timetable. From March 29, 2015, the airline will be operating a new route from Frankfurt Airport to Aalborg in Jutland, Denmark, with 14 flights a week.

The commercial and university city will be Lufthansaโ€™s third destination in Denmark, after Copenhagen and Billund.

The airline will also be launching a twice-weekly nonstop service between Frankfurt and Keflavik (near Reykjavรญk), Iceland, from May 2, until September 26, 2015. The Aalborg route will have two flights a day with a Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft, with 90 seats in Business and Economy Class. The service will depart from the Lufthansa hub every morning at 8.25 a.m. as flight LH 844 and every afternoon at 4.10 p.m. as flight LH 846, arriving in Aalborg at 10.05 a.m. and 5.50 p.m. respectively. The return flights will land in Frankfurt at 12.25 p.m. and 8.10 p.m. respectively.

The service to Keflavik (Reykjavรญk) will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays with an Airbus A319, with 138 seats in Business and Economy Class. Flight LH 856 will take off from Frankfurt in the morning and land in Reykjavรญk around midday. Flight LH 857 will arrive back at Frankfurt Airport in the early evening.

WOW Air is coming to Boston and Baltimore/Washington with Airbus A321s

WOW Air (Keflavik) as planned, is coming to Boston in March 2015 with fares starting at $99 one-way. Kleflavik International Airport-Boston Logan International Airport will start on March 27 and operate six days a week with Airbus A321s.

WOW Air will also operate seasonal service between Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI) and Keflavik International Airport with four weekly roundtrip flights starting on June 4, 2015.

For the service from BWI, WOW Air will also utilize Airbus A321 aircraft. The seasonal flights will operate four times per week, on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Wow Air is coming to Dublin on June 2, 2015

Wow Air (Keflavik) is coming to Dublin, Ireland. The Icelandic carrier is planning to launch a new Dublin-Keflavik (near Reykjavik) service from ย June 2, 2015. The service, which will run year round, will see flights operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and marks the first scheduled service between the two locations.

The airline is also planning to introduce North American service to Boston next year (possibly in March) according to Airline Route.

Greenland Express suspends operations, hopes to reorganize with new investors

Greenland Express (Keflavik and Aalborg) has suspended operations according to this report by check-in.dk. The flights were being operated with a Fokker 100 operated by Denim Air (above) twice-weekly. The flights from Denmark were making a technical stop in Keflavik, Iceland which was adding to the costs incurred by the company. According to the report, the company intends to restart operations with new investors and will look at possibly using an Airbus A320 for nonstop flights to Greenland. Greenland Express will lease the aircraft directly from the leasing company.

Icelandair Group’s 2Q net profit jumps 29% to $18.5 million

Icelandair Group (Icelandair) (Keflavik) reported its second quarter net profit increased 29 percent to $18.5 million, up from $14.3 million for the quarter a year ago.

Wow Air introduces new routes to Dusseldorf and Stuttgart
