Emirates to add a second daily Airbus A380 to Sydney on June 1

Emirates Airline (Dubai) has announced it will add a second Airbus A380 service on the Dubai โ€“ Sydney route from June 1, 2013. The second A380 will operate on the early morning service and demonstrates the airlineโ€™s commitment to New South Wales and demand for the flagship aircraft.

Currently served by a Boeing 777-300ER, deploying theย Airbus A380ย onย Emiratesโ€™ flights EK 414 and EK 415 will see an increase in capacity of 1,890 seats per week.

Myanmar Airways International to start daily service between Mandalay and Bangkok on March 31

MAI-Myanmar Airways International (Yangon) will start a new route between Mandalay and Bangkok starting on March 31. The new daily service will be operated with Airbus A320s.

Aerolineas Argentinas to post its largest loss in 2012

Aerolineas Argentinas (Buenos Aires) is estimating it willย lose around $976 million in 2012, its largest deficit recorded in the last 21 years.ย On average, the airline has lost close to $2.7 million per day. since July 2008, according to this report by Noticias.

Starflyer takes delivery of its first purchased A320 from Airbus

Starflyer (Kitakyushu) has taken delivery of its first ever directly purchased aircraft, an Airbus A320, during a delivery ceremony in Toulouse, France. A320-214 JA08MC (msn 5393) was handed over to the carrier on December 12.

The aircraft is the first of three A320s ordered by the company in 2011, and is powered byย CFM56-5B4/P engines. Itย will accommodate 150 passengersย in a single-classย configuration.Starflyerย will deployย the new aircraft toย strengthen its network in Japan and to regional destinations.

Starflyer already operates an all-Airbus fleet of seven leased A320s, the first of which was delivered in Toulouse exactly seven years ago. With this aircraft, the airlineโ€™s fleet will rise to eight A320s, with another six to be delivered both via lease and direct purchase.

Starflyer commenced operations on March 16, 2006.

IndiGo considers spreading its wings from Kolkata to Singapore and Dubai

IndiGo Airlines (Delhi) is considering extending its route map with new routes from Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) to Singapore and Dubai in 2013 according to The Times of India. The carrier currently flies to Bangkok, Singapore, Dubai, Muscat and Kathmandu from Delhi and Mumbai andย is adding new flights to Bangkok on December 21 (see map below).

Yakutia Airlines intends to order 3 Boeing 737-700s and 8 737-800s

Yakutia Airlines (Yakutia Aircompany) (Yakutsk) intends to firm up a new order with Boeing for three new Boeing 737-700s and eight 737-800s for deliveries in the 2016-2018 period per Air Journal. This order will be a replacement order for the existing fleet.

Kingfisher Airlines loses its AOC

Kingfisher Airlines (Bangalore and Mumbai) today (October 20) lost its ability to resume operations when the DGCA suspended its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) due to the airlines’ failure to respond to the orders issued by DGCA. The carrier suspended operations on October 4 due to employee unrest and strikes.

Yesterday the airline posted this notice on its website:

Kingfisher Airlines Ltd. has extended the partial lockout until October 23, 2012. We had a positive meeting with employee representatives on October 17th and are hopeful of reaching common ground when we meet again next week. Currently, we anticipate resuming operations on November 6th, subject to our resumption plan being reviewed and approved by the DGCA.
