Jetstar Japan (Tokyo-Narita) yesterday (February 28) launched its first international route linking Osaka (Kansai) and Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific is coming to Dusseldorf

Cathay Pacific Airways (Hong Kong) will launch the Hong Kong – Dusseldorf route on September 1. The new route will be operated four days a week with Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft per Airline Route.

Scoot revises its inaugural plans for the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

Scoot (Singapore) has once again revised its inaugural Boeing 787-9 service. The airline will now introduce the new type on February 5 between Singapore and Perth followed by Singapore – Hong Kong the following day pending the first delivery from Boeing (the pictured 9V-OJA) this coming week. The company is planning to replace its six Boeing 777-200 ERs with the new 787s by September.

Scoot will now introduce the new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on February 1

Scoot (Singapore) is now planning to introduce the new Boeing 787-9 on February 1 to both Hong Kong and Perth from Singapore. The inaugural has been delayed twice due to delivery delays at Boeing.

Dragonair to add Hong Kong-Tokyo Haneda flights

Dragonair (Hong Kong) has announced it will commence a new daily service between Hong Kong and Haneda Airport in Tokyo beginning on March 29, 2015 (subject to government approval), further strengthening the airlineโ€™s network in Asia and boosting its presence in Japan. The new service is an addition to the existing 14 flights per week to Haneda offered by sister airline Cathay Pacific Airways, which also operates 35 flights per week to Narita International Airport.

Tokyo will be Dragonairโ€™s third destination in Japan and becomes the 16th destination to have been launched or resumed by the airline since April 2012. Dragonair currently operates daily flights between Hong Kong and Fukuoka and four weekly flights to Okinawa.

The new service to Haneda Airport will be operated by the airline’s fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft in a two-class configuration. Dragonairโ€™s premium passengers flying out of Haneda will be able to make use of the brand-new Cathay Pacific lounge at the airport.

Peach to add the Okinawa-Hong Kong route on February 21, 2015

Peach Aviation (Osaka-Kansai) has announced it will launch the Okinawa-Hong kong route on February 21 with four weekly flights.

Hong Kong Airlines (Hong Kong) is celebrating its 8th anniversary. The airline issued this statement and logo:

Since its establishment in 2006, Hong Kong Airlines has grown to become an internationally-acclaimed SKYTRAX 4-star airline and was awarded “World’s Most Improved Airline” by SKYTRAX in 2014, recognizing the warmth of its service and the quality of its onboard offering. The Airline operates an all-Airbus fleet with an average age of approximately 2.4 years as of May 2014, which is one of the youngest fleets among major international airlines in the world. To mark the 8th anniversary, Hong Kong Airlines launches a series of exciting activities and promotions, as an appreciation gesture for customers’ continuous support and sharing joy with the whole city.

To spread the birthday joy across Hong Kong, the airlines is delighted to organize “8th Anniversary Roadshow”. Hong Kong Airlines to increase frequencies to both Bangkok and Haikou

Hong Kong Airlines (Hong Kong) will add additional frequencies to to bothย Bangkok and Haikou, which, according to the airline “have always been tourists’ favorite destinations in the Hong Kong Airlines’ network (below)”. Hong Kong Airlines (HKA) will increase the frequency of its Haikou route service to 11 flights a week, starting on December 1, 2014. Capacity on the Bangkok route will also be expanded with a sixth daily service, commencing on December 19, 2014.

Cathay Pacific is facing a contract showdown with its pilots next week

Cathay Pacific Airways (Hong Kong) is facing a showdown with its pilots this coming week. 51 percent of theย Hong Kong Aircrew Officers Association voted down the company’s offer on an online poll. The carrier said it was disappointed with the vote. The airline had offered a 10 percent salary increase over three years. Contract talks will start next week.

If the talks fail, the pilots may got to invoke a “contract compliance”, a form of a strike. This slow down action if implemented could have an impact on operations.
