British Airways (London) will start five new routes from the London (Gatwick) hub starting on April 26 and April 27 to Bodrum (Turkey), Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy), Dalaman (Turkey), Heraklion (Crete, Greece) and Rhodes (Greece). The routes will be operated with Airbus A319s per Airline Route.

British Airways:
EasyJet (UK) (London-Luton) has announced that it has agreed a new seven year deal with Gatwick Airport (GAL) from April 2014 which will incentivise the airline to grow at the airport and provide the framework for EasyJet and GAL to further improve customer experience for easyJetโs passengers.
EasyJet plans to continue to grow at Gatwick through increasing our slots and by deploying larger aircraft as EasyJet replaces 156 seat A319s with 180 seat A320s and, from 2017, A320neos. In the next fiscal year (ending in March 2015) alone the airline will increase capacity and passenger numbers by around 10% compared to the previous year.
The agreement has been reached within the new โcommitmentsโ framework which will replace the current regulatory regime as confirmed by the CAA last yearโ.
EasyJet started flying from London Gatwick Airport in 1999 and now has 57 aircraft based there, operating on 108 routes. The airline has around 1400 cabin crew and 700 pilots operating from the airport.

EasyJet (UK) (easyJet.com) (London-Luton), the UK and London Gatwickโs largest airline will see the launch of five new year-round services from London Gatwick this month.
The airlineโs inaugural flights to Brussels, Paris (Charles de Gaulle), Jersey, Newcastle and Strasbourg take off for the first time on March 30, 2014.
The frequency of EasyJetโs services between Gatwick and Inverness will also double from one to two return services each day with the launch of EasyJetโs first evening flight from London Gatwick to Inverness and early arrival into London Gatwick. This will further strengthen the airlineโs comprehensive network of routes from the airport and is expected to be popular with business travellers.
2.3 million passengers flew easyJet on business in and out of London Gatwick in 2013 and over 800,000 passengers are expected to use the five new services annually. This will increase the number of passengers who fly easyJet to and from the airport by 5% and to a total of 108 destinations to further extend the airlineโs ongoing commitment to providing easy and affordable business links across Europe.
Previously on March 19, EasyJet commemorated the deal it agreed to last June with Airbus for 135 Airbus A320 aircraft in Paris, with an official signing ceremony.
EasyJet is the fourth largest airline in Europe with a current fleet of 217 Airbus A319s and A320s and has taken delivery of 245 Airbus aircraft in total. EasyJet’s Airbus order is the largest placed by any European airline to date.

Emirates (Dubai) will become the first airline to operate a regularly scheduled service to London Gatwick airport with an Airbus A380.
Starting March 30, 2014, the airlineโs 489-seatย A380 will replace the Boeing 777-300 ER onย EK flight 09/10, bringing a 36 percent increase in capacity on one of its three daily flights.
Emirates will start operating scheduledย A380 services to Zurich and Barcelona from January and February 2014 respectively.
Flight EK 009 will depart Dubai atย 1500 (3 pm) and arrive at London Gatwick Airport at 1930 (7:30 pm). The return flight,ย EK 010, will leave London Gatwick atย 2115 (9:15 pm) and arrive in Dubai atย 0720 (7:20 am) the next day.

EasyJet (UK) (easyJet.com) (London-Luton) has announced 10 new routes which will launch as part of its summer 2014 schedule.
The new routes will operate from its London Gatwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle and Belfast bases to destinations across the UK and Europe.
There are four new additions to London Gatwickโs schedule with Jersey, Paris, and Newcastle strengthening easyJetโs unrivalled business network out of the airport. Important connections between London and Newcastle will be provided through new 6 per week services. Flights to Brittany, a region of France popular with British holidaymakers, will also add to the airlineโs comprehensive range of leisure destinations.
Further choice is also being offered from Belfast International Airport with affordable flights to Bordeaux and Jersey. There are also four new routes launching in Scotland which will provide sun seekers with even more choice for travel further afield to both Heraklion and Bodrum from Edinburgh Airport or the option to fly to Split and Kos from Glasgow International Airport.

Norwegian Air Shuttle (Norwegian Long Haul) (Norwegian.com) (Oslo) has announced it will launch three new intercontinental nonstop routes between London (Gatwick) and New York (JFK), Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood starting in the summer of 2014. In addition to these new long-haul routes, Norwegian will also launch five new European nonstop routes and is also increased capacity on existing routes.
Norwegian continues its international expansion with more Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Following the successful launch of direct routes within Europe from Gatwick earlier this year, the fast growing carrier is now launching intercontinental routes from London Gatwick.
Five new European destinations
In addition to the new intercontinental routes, Norwegian is launching five new European destinations from London Gatwick. New destinations from next spring and summer are: Santorini, Corfu, Catania, Cyprus and Budapest. Norwegian is also increasing capacity to existing destinations: Malaga, Ibiza, Split, Dubrovnik, Majorca, Faro, Tenerife, Copenhagen and Barcelona.
Norwegian currently offers 320 flights a week to 25 destinations from London Gatwick.

EasyJet (easyJet.com) (UK) (London-Luton) announced today it is increasing its Jersey, Channel Islands network with the introduction of a year-round service to and from London (Gatwick).
From March 30, 2014 easyJet will operate three flights per day between Jersey and London Gatwick offering the choice of a morning, afternoon and evening departure in each direction. The new service will go on sale in September 2013 and means easyJet now connect Jersey with five UK airports โ London Gatwick, Southend, Liverpool, Newcastle and Glasgow.
The announcement follows a deal secured by easyJet earlier this year to purchase 25 additional slots at Gatwick Airport from Flybe. Since this time, the airline has worked closely with the route development team at Jersey Airport to expand its operation in the Island and enhance connections to London Gatwick. The new flight will be operated by an Airbus A319 aircraft with the capacity of 156 seats.

The introduction of a London Gatwick service brings the total number of routes the airline serves from Jersey to five. In addition to its exiting year-round services to Liverpool, Glasgow and London (Southend), the airline also introduced a summer service to Newcastle earlier this year.

Aurigny Air Services (Aurigny.com) (Guernsey, Channel Islands) has ordered a 122-seat Embraer 195 for the Guernsey-London (Gatwick) route. The airline is planning to take delivery in June 2014. Flybe is planning to drop the route in March 2014.

We are really excited to announce that the airlineโs new aircraft to service the Guernsey to Gatwick route following the withdrawal of Flybe, will be an Embraer E195 regional jet.
Following the States of Guernseyโs decision to act as guarantors for the purchase of an aircraft and Treasury and Resources approval of the airlineโs business case, the Board of Aurigny has entered into an initial agreement with Embraer, the Brazilian regional aircraft manufacturer, to purchase a new aircraft to be delivered in mid-2014.
“Aurigny is very grateful for the support that it has received from the States for this exciting project, which will be a major step forward for the airline,” says Mark Darby, Aurignyโs interim Chief Executive.
“It will be a significant investment for us but it is essential that we replace Flybeโs capacity utilizing our existing slots on this lifeline route. The 122-seat Embraer E195 will offer our customers a superior travelling experience, as well as being more reliable and performing better when landing in poor weather conditions.
“The Board selected the aircraft after an extensive evaluation process and decided to buy a new aircraft direct from the manufacturer because of the high levels of introduction support the airline will receive in areas such as pilot and engineer training โ which will be essential if we are to achieve a smooth introduction.”
In other news, the state-owned airline is discussing with the Channel Islands local government about a possible name change such as “Guernsey Air” and a possible new livery. The government does not appear to be keen on any change.

Norwegian Air Shuttle (Norwegian.com) (Oslo) is currently operating the pictured Boeing 787-8 EI-LNA (msn 35304) (above) (Antony J. Best) on European routes before it enters its long-haul service career with Norwegian Long haul. EI-LNA was the first 787 for the rapidly-growing low-fare airline and was handed over to the carrier on June 29, 2013.
The Norwegian is operating a “Dreamtour” for its European customers this summer. From July 4 through August 4 the airline is substituting its new 787 on select European routes from Oslo. This includes flights to London (Gatwick) as well as Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga and Nice on the Mediterranean Sea.
Allan Huse booked and flew one of these “Dreamtour” flights, a round trip from London (Gatwick) and Oslo and return.
Asked about his experience and first impressions of the 787, Allan said; “It was very enjoyable and smooth flight. The crew was friendly and knew all about the aircraft and the on board systems. The fare was good at under ยฃ100 return. I would recommend a flight on one!”
