Skywest Airlines (Australia) (Perth) is adding another Fokker F.28 Mk. 0100 (Fokker 100) bringing the fleet to 16 aircraft (nine F100s and seven Fokker F.27 Mk. 050s). The company is also considering an order for four Airbus A320s.

ANA to introduce 1969 Boeing 767-300 retrojet

ANA (All Nippon Airways) (Tokyo-Haneda) will soon be unveiling a 1969 retrojet on aย Boeing 767-300. It will enter service onย December 1, 2009, initially on the Tkoyo (Haneda)-Miyazakiย and Tokyo (Haneda)-Kagoshima routes. ANA plans to retainย this retrojet livery for four years. This “Mohican Blue” color scheme was introduced in 1969 with the first Boeing 737-200. The current two-tone blue color scheme was introduced in 1983 and is called “Triton Blue”.

Trans States signs LOI for 50 Mitsubishi MRJs

Trans States Holdings (Trans States Airlines and GoJet Airlines) (St. Louis) signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation for an order for 50 Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ-90) aircraft along with 50 options. Trans States Airlines operates as an United Express and US Airways Express carrier. GoJet operates as an United Express carrier.

JetBlue Airways (New York-JFK) yesterday (October 1) launched a new Airbus A320 route linking the JFK hub with Bridgetown, Barbados.

Frontier emerges from bankruptcy protection

Frontier Airlines (2nd) and Lynx Aviation (Frontier Airlines Holdings) (Denver) both emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection yesterday (October 1) and both become subsidiaries of Republic Airways Holdings. Republic acquired Frontier Airlines Holdings which includes both airlines for $108.75 million. Some Frontier aircraft are now expected to fly for sister airline Midwest Airlines (Milwaukee) for the West Coast routes.

Air India Express (Mumbai) took delivery of its 24th Boeing 737-800 on September 29. 737-8HG VT-AYC (msn 36339) has an unique tapestry design on both sides of the tail surface. Further details on this design are welcome.

SAS Norge to cut some flights and routes

Scandinavian Airlines Norge (SAS Norge) (a subsidiary of Scandinavian Airlines-SAS) (Oslo) will cut some flights and routes along with some personnel. However parent SAS Group will still maintain a domestic network in Norway. Effective yesterday (September 30) the SAS Norge division is now operating under the SAS AOC. Scandinavian Airlines Norge is the result of the merger of SAS Norway and Braathens. The airline was first known as SAS Braathens, but changed its name to Scandinavian Airlines Norge in 2007.

Midwest Airlines to retire last 717 on Nov. 3

Midwest Airlines (subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings) (Milwaukee) will phase out the last Boeing 717 on November 3. This represents the last type flown by the original Midwest pilots. All other Midwest Airlines flying will be conducted by sister airlines Republic Airlines (2nd) and Chautauqua Airlines under the Midwest and Midwest Connect brand. What aircraft will be operated on the Midwest AOC to keep the AOC alive?
