Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) has announced new seasonal service from its Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) base to coastal destinations Savannah/Hilton Head (SAV) and Gulfport/Biloxi (GPT).
Gulfport/Biloxi seasonal service will run August 27-November 22, 2015 and Savannah/Hilton Head service will run August 27-December 13, 2015.
With the addition of these two destinations, Sun Country Airlines will service a total of 37 destinations throughout the year.

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) will launch daily seasonal service from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to Honolulu International Airport next fall.
The flight will operate beginning October 25, 2015 through March 26, 2016 using a 225-seat Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft with 25 full flat-bed seats in BusinessElite, 29 seats in Economy Comfort and 171 Economy class seats.

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) continues to expand Boeing 717 operations as more aircraft are released from AirTran Airways. As previously reported, AirTran will operate its last flight on December 28.
Delta will introduce the 717 to the Minneapolis/St. Paul hub starting on January 6, 2015 with a route to Charlotte. Kansas City, Madison and Philadelphia will be added on February 13 followed by Detroit on March 2 per Airline Route.
Delta is also assigning the 717 to two new routes from the Atlanta hub to both Georgetown (December 20) and Nassau (January 12) in the Bahamas.

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) will start weekly seasonal service from the airlineโs hub in Minneapolis/St. Paul to Montego Bay, Jamaica on starting on January 18, 2015 and Nassau in the Bahamas, starting 0n January 17, 2015. Flights will be operated on Airbus A320 aircraft with 150 seats, including 12 seats in Business Class, 18 Economy Comfort seats and 120 economy seats.

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) will bring back its nonstop seasonal service connecting Liberia, Costa Rica with Los Angeles and the airlineโs hubs in Minneapolis/St. Paul and New York-JFK. Additionally, seasonal service between San Jose and Minneapolis/St. Paul will be reinstated.
Delta continues its expansion in Costa Rica, operating 40 weekly services during the peak season and connecting the cities of San Jose and Liberia with key destinations in the United States.
In other news, Delta will expand its service to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic during the high demand season, including flights from Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul and New York-JFK.
Flights will be operated using Airbus A320 and Airbus A319 aircraft and will complement existing Delta service to this luxury Caribbean destination.

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) is expanding in the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America this coming winter with new seasonal service. The airline will start weekly service from MSP to St. Maarten (December 20 through April 4), Manzanillo (January 8 through April 2) and Rio Hato (near Panama City) December 26 through April 3 per Airline Route.

Sun Country Airlines (Minneapolis/St. Paul) starting on January 16, 2015 will add a new seasonal route to Nassau in the Bahamas from Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP). The new route will initially operate weekly and then increase to three roundtrips a week starting on February 12, 2015.

Chautauqua Airlines (Indianapolis) is phasing out its Embraer ERJ 140 regional jets it operates for American Airlines.ย According to ch-aviation, the company will operate the last ERJ 140 flight for AA on August 18. Pilots are being switched to the new Embraer 175s which will be operate under the American Eagle brand.
Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (Indianapolis) is an airline holding company that owns Chautauqua Airlines, Republic Airlines and Shuttle America. The airlines operate a combined fleet of about 250 aircraft and offer scheduled passenger service on about 1,300 flights daily to about 100 cities in the U.S., Canada and the Bahamas through fixed-fee flights operated under our major airline partner brands, including American Eagle, Delta Connection, United Express, and US Airways Express.
In other news, Republic Airways Holdings CEO Bryan Bedford has stated the company has no intention of canceling its order for the new, but delayed, Bombardier CSeries aircraft. Republic has 40 CS300s on order. Republic has made the decision to phase out its 50-seat aircraft and will concentrate on the Embraer 170 and 175 series of aircraft and the Bombardier Q400 besides the the CS300s on order according to this interview in the Financial Post.

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) yesterday (January 6) as planned and previously announced, operated its last DC-9 flight. The pictured McDonnell Douglas DC-9-51 N773NC (msn 47775) (above) and crew had the honor of operating the very last DC-9 revenue flight as flight DL 2014 between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Atlanta.
With the cold temperatures in both MSP and ATL there was not the traditional water cannon salute.
N773NC was originally delivered to North Central Airlines on October 26, 1978. With the merger with Southern Airways it became Republic Airlines on July 1, 1979. With the Republic merger into Northwest Airlines it took on the red tail on October 1, 1986. Finally it joined the Delta fleet on October 29, 2008 with the Delta-Northwest merger.
Delta operated 13 DC-9-51s in January up to the last flight operated by N773NC. Five DC-9-51s were retired in 2013, six in 2012 and 10 in 2011 according to Airliners.net. One DC-9-51 will be reserved for a museum. Delta is reportedly holding on to two DC-9-51s as spare aircraft for a few days while the newer Boeing 717s replace the DC-9-51s. The other DC-9-51 will end up in the desert where they will be broken up for the parts and the recyclable metal.

Delta painted the first ex-AirTran Airways Boeing 717 in September 2013, namely the pictured N935AT, which is pictured arriving at BWI.ย Delta is leasing the entire AirTran fleet of 88 Boeing 717s from Southwest Airlines (Dallas). The new type was introduced on September 19, 2013 between the Atlanta hub and Newark. The DL 717s feature 12 seats in First Class, 15 seats in Economy Comfort and 83 seats in Economy. N935AT was originally delivered to TWA as N402TW on April 11, 2000.
