Transaero to start scheduled Moscow-Taipei service on July 2

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) will start scheduled nonstop flights between Moscow and Taipei on July 2, 2014.

The UN 505/506 weekly flight will be operated from Vnukovo International Airport, Moscow, onboard Boeing 767-300 aircraft according to the following schedule (all times local):

Departure from Moscow depart on Wednesdays at 15.00, arrival in Taipei is at 06.50 the next day. Departure from Taipei depart on Thursdays at 09.40, arrival in Moscow is at 17.30.

Transaero Airlines flew its maiden charter flight from Moscow to Taipei in 2002.

Transaero is the only carrier to fly nonstop flights on the Moscow-Taipei route.

Transaero Airlines launched its flights in 1991. Transaero is the Russia’s second largest carrier. In 2013 the airline carried 12.5 million passengers. It ranks among the top 30 airlines in the world in terms of passenger turnover.

Currently, Transaero operates the fleet of 99 aircraft including 20 Boeing 747, 14 Boeing 777, 16 Boeing 767, 44 Boeing 737, three ะขu-214, two ะขu-204-100ะก. The airline is the largest operator of widebody aircraft fleet in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe. Transaero is the launch customer in Russia of the most modern aircraft such as ะirbus ะ380, Boeing 747-8I and ะirbus ะ320 neo.

The network of the airline includes more than 200 routes in Russia, Europe, Asia, Americas and Africa.

Dobrolet is experiencing heavy ticket sales before it launches operations on June 11

Dobrolet (2nd) (Moscow-Sheremetyevo) is the new low-fare subsidiary of Aeroflot Russian Airlines (Moscow-Sheremetyevo). The new airline will launch operations on June 11.

Aeroflot issued this statement about ticket sales for the new subsidiary:

More than a half of all tickets offered by low-budget airline Dobrolet for June were booked during the first day of sales. The sale was opened on May 26 at 23:17 Moscow time, and within the first 24 hours 13,700 tickets were booked on the initial Moscow-Simferopol-Moscow route.

From June 11 to June 22, the load factor on flights from Moscow to Simferopol is 99.9%, from June 27 to 30 100% of seats are booked.

Simferopol is in the newly annexed Crimea (see route map below).

The new airline was issued its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) on May 19.

The carrier will commence scheduled operations with two Boeing 737-800 Next-Generation aircraft. The airline will also operate one Sukhoi Super Jet 100 (SSJ100) according to a press release in Russian.

Dobrolet expects to have with Boeing 737-800s in service by the end of 2014 increasing to 40 by 2018.

Aeroflot owns 100 percent of the shares and projects it will invest $100 million in the new company in the first two years.

Aeroflot to restore Moscow-Chisinau, Moldova service after 20 years

Aeroflot Russian Airlines (Moscow) will restore the Moscow (Sheremetyevo)-Chisinau, Moldova route on October 27 with daily Airbus A320 service according to Airline Route. The last Moscow (Vnukovo) โ€“ Chisinau/Kishinev service was operated in April 1994 according to the OAG. Moldova is one of the western border countries next to the Ukraine currently in the news.

Israir Airlines to introduce four new routes

Israir Airlines (Tel Aviv) will commenced weekly Airbus A320 service to Stuttgart, Germany starting on June 4 according to Airline Route.

The company is also introducing three new routes this summer to Memmingen (May 30), Tbilisi (April 2) and Verona (April 3).

Aeroflot retires the Ilyushin Il-96 from scheduled operations

Aeroflot Russian Airlines (Moscow) according to Airline Route, planned to operate the last scheduled Ilyushin Il-96 flight yesterday (March 30) between Tashkent and its Moscow Sheremetyevo hub. The type was introduced in 1993.

Air Armenia is coming to Paris and Athens

Air Armenia (Yerevan, Armenia) on April 30 will launch twice-weekly Airbus A320 service to Paris (CDG). The Armenian carrier will also start twice-weekly flights to Athens on the same day per Airline Route.

Aeroflot reports record operating results for 2013

Aeroflot Russian Airlines (Moscow) has announced record operating results inย the modern history ofย the company and Aeroflot Group for the twelve months ending on December 31, 2013. The airline issued this report:

Key drivers ofย the strong operational highlights included: aย marked expansion ofย the route network, fleet enlargement and passenger traffic growth.

Highlights

Aeroflot standalone:

โ€ข Passenger traffic for the full year 2013 was aย record 20.9ย million. This represented 18.4% year-on-year growth, considerably ahead ofย the overall Russian industry growth rate ofย 14.2%. December 2013 passenger traffic was 1.6ย million, aย 17.0% rise over December 2012 (and well ahead ofย the 9.6% rise ofย the overall industry).

โ€ข Revenue passenger kilometers inย 2013 totalled 50.5ย billion, aย year-on-year increase ofย 19.2% (versus 15.0% for the industry overall). Inย December revenue passenger kilometers increased 13.3%, versus 10.1% for the industry overall.

โ€ข Inย 2013 the company expanded its fleet, flying eight new Airbus A320s, five new Airbus A321s, three new Boeing 737-800s and four new Boeing 777-300s. Despite the larger fleet driving available seat kilometers 17.8% higher, the passenger load factor was 78.8%, orย 0.9 percentage points higher than inย 2012.

Aeroflot Group:

โ€ข Total passenger traffic inย 2013 rose 14.3% year-on-year toย 31.4ย million. For December, passenger traffic was 2.3ย million, aย 13.3% increase over the same period aย year earlier.

โ€ข Revenue passenger kilometers for 2013 increased 14.3% year-on-year toย 85.3ย bln. Inย December revenue passenger kilometers increased 6.9% versus the same period aย year earlier toย 6.3ย billion;

โ€ข The passenger load factor for 2013 was 0.1 percentage point higher atย 78.2%, despite aย slight decrease (0.3 percentage points) inย December versus the same period aย year earlier.

Key factors that impacted the Groupโ€™s 2013 operating results:

โ€ข Aeroflot standalone continued attract more passengers byย delivering aย premium product atย aย competitive price, maintaining aย strong safety record and expanding its network ofย routes.

โ€ข Charter subsidiary Orenburg Airlines redirected some ofย its capacity toย European destinations from the Middle East and Asia due toย political instability inย those regions.

โ€ข Russian Far Eastern carrier Aurora Airlines was formed through the combination ofย Sakhalin Airways (SAT Airlines) and Vladivostok Avia, integrating the route networks and optimizing the fleets ofย the two formerly separate subsidiaries.

โ€ข Aeroflot discontinued its dedicated cargo fleet, switching toย belly cargo operations.

Emirates to fly Airbus A380 double-daily service to Moscow starting on August 1

Emirates (Dubai) will serve its Moscow route from Dubai with a double daily Airbus A380 service starting on August 1.

This second A380, which will operate as flight EK 133/134, replaces the existing Boeing 777 operation and increases seat capacity on the route by 15%.

Transaero Airlines starts offering “Discount Class”

Transaero Airlines (Moscow) following up on our previous report,ย onย January 14, 2014, started to offer a new low-cost product called Discount Class.

Discount class is offered on certain Transaero flights from Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport on a number of popular domestic and international routes including those toย London,ย Berlin,ย Vienna,ย Barcelona,ย Rome,Milan,ย Tel Aviv,ย Vilnius, Yekaterinburg, Kazan,ย Kaliningrad, Kemerovo, Krasnodar, Mineralnye Vody, Novosibirsk, Novy Urengoy, Omsk, Perm, Rostov-on-Don,ย Samara,ย Saint Petersburg, Sochi, Stavropol, Ufa, Khanty-Mansiysk,ย Kiev, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk,ย Odessa, Astana,ย Almaty, Karaganda,ย Yerevan, Antalya.

During the first day of the service launch, the airline carried about 5,000 passengers on 54 Discount Class flights on Boeing 737 and Tu-214 aircraft (above).

All seats on specified flights are sold according to Discount Class rules. The ticket fares include, in accordance with the Russian Federal Aviation Rules, free drinks and food or meals depending on flight length. Passengers are also offered a choice of newspapers and an opportunity to buy duty-free goods onboard. However, Discount Class passengers won’t be able to order special meals. Passengers on these flights can carry 10, 15 or 20 kilos of luggage, depending on tariff of the purchased ticket.

Members of the Transaero Privilege frequent flyer program may earn points travelling in Discount Class at a 50% rate. They can also get reward tickets for these flights.

The new product by Transaero Airlines guarantees a reasonable balance of comfort and affordable ticket prices.

Aeroflot celebrates 10 years of flying the Airbus A320 Family of aircraft

Aeroflot Russian Airlines (Moscow) is celebrating 10 years of flying the Airbus A320 Family of aircraft. The airline issued this statement:

Ten years ago Aeroflot received its first aircraft from the Airbus familyย โ€” an A319 which was named after the eminent Russian composer, pianist and conductor Sergei Prokofiev.

The A320 family airplanes meet all the requirements ofย security, reliability and passenger comfort. Aeroflot operates A320 aircraft onย European and domestic routes. Inย terms ofย operational reliability and actual hours flown per aircraft, the company isย among the world leaders. Cabins ofย this aircraft family are made inย two-class configuration and designed toย carry 116 (A319), 140 and 158 (A320), and 170 (A321) passengers.

Many aircraft ofย the A320 family which isย the backbone ofย Aeroflotโ€™s park are decorated with unique liveries and logos. You can find A320s with the Dobrolet retro livery, Winter Olympics mascots (see below) and the Yekaterinburg World Expo 2020 Bid Committee logo. Aย jet from A320 family became the Olympic Torch Relay aircraft and brought the Olympic flame from Greece toย Moscow. The Olympic Torch Relay team will travel toย the northern regions ofย the country (from Kaliningrad toย Vladivostok) and toย the Caucasus onย board one of Aeroflotโ€™s A320s.

Today Aeroflotโ€™s fleet counts 140ย airplanes, most ofย them are ofย A319/320/321ย family. All the Airbus aircraft are delivered toย Aeroflot directly from the manufacturer. The average age ofย anย A320 family aircraft isย 5ย years.

Aeroflotโ€™s fleet isย one ofย the youngest inย Europe. Byย the end ofย 2012, Aeroflot reached the fourth place among European carriers inย terms ofย aircraft deliveries, according toย Airline Business rating.
