Arctic Aviation Assets leases 12 Airbus A320neo airliners to HK Express

Arctic Aviation Assets Ltd. (AAA), Norwegian’s wholly owned subsidiary, has signed an agreement to lease 12 Airbus A320neo to HK Express (Hong Kong). The 12 aircraft will be delivered between 2016 and 2018.

AAA (Norwegian) has 100 Airbus A320neo airliners on order.

Arctic Aviation Assets Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle and was established on August 9, 2013. The company is based in Ireland and currently manages a portfolio of 100 aircraft in addition to Norwegian’s orders for over 267 aircraft delivered during the period 2015 to 2022. The Company also has purchase options on another 160 aircraft.

JetBlue launches flights from Albany, NY to both Orlando and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood

JetBlue Airways (New York) yesterday (December 10) launched two new routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Albany International Airport (ALB).

JetBlue’s Schedule from/to Albany as of December 10, 2015:

Daily service from Albany to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood and Orlando operates on JetBlue’s 150-seat A320 aircraft.

Virgin America begins flying from San Francisco to Maui, Hawaii

Virgin America (San Francisco) yesterday (December 3) launched the San Francisco – Kahului, Maui route. The new route will be operated three days a week.

In November, Virgin America launched daily nonstop flights from San Francisco to Honolulu.

The Hawaii flights will be operated with new Airbus A320 aircraft that are equipped with fuel-saving, ‘sharklet’ wingtip devices, allowing the airline to operate flights more efficiently, especially over longer haul routes.

Virgin America teamed up with Airbnb to encourage travelers to “Work Hard, Hawai‘i Hard” by experiencing all that the Aloha state has to offer. On December 3, the airline’s Hawai‘i schedule grew again with daily nonstop flights from SFO to Maui’s Kahului Airport (OGG).

VivaColombia arrives in Miami

VivaColombia A320 arrives in MIA (MDAD)(LR)

VivaColombia (Medellin) launched its first service in the United States yesterday (December 2) when it began flights between Miami International Airport and Medellín, Colombia. The budget carrier, which already serves 11 cities in Colombia and three other destinations in Latin America, will also begin Miami-Bogotá service on December 16. The new flights will utilize 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.

VivaColombia’s Miami-Medellín flights, which operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arrive in Miami at 10:10 a.m. and depart to Medellín at 11:50 a.m. The Miami-Bogotá schedule, which will also operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, will arrive in Miami at 7:05 p.m. and depart to Bogotá at 8:35 p.m.

VivaColombia is Colombia’s second-largest airline, the nation’s leading budget carrier, and MIA’s sixth international low-cost carrier.

JetBlue adds more Cuban charters from New York

JetBlue Airways (New York) and Cuba Travel Services (CTS) today announced the start of their second weekly roundtrip charter flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and José Martí International Airport (HAV) in Havana. The added flights will operate on Tuesdays and become JetBlue’s sixth weekly roundtrip charter route between the U.S. and Cuba. In July, JetBlue became the first major airline to fly to Cuba from New York when it launched weekly flights on Fridays.

Since government restrictions were eased earlier this year, JetBlue has doubled its number of charter flights to Cuba and has positioned itself as a leading airline to the island nation with its award-winning service. Once scheduled service is allowed, Cuba will play an important role in JetBlue’s growing network in Latin America and the Caribbean.

JetBlue first began operating charters to Cuba in 2011 and now flies to Havana and Santa Clara from New York (JFK), Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood, and Tampa. All flights are operated on 150-seat Airbus A320 aircraft with JetBlue crew members.

In other news, JetBlue also announced that it has joined the White House’s American Business Act on Climate Pledge, which includes more than 154 companies from across the American economy demonstrating an ongoing commitment to climate action and voicing support for a strong outcome to the Conference of Parties 21 (COP21) Paris climate negotiations.

Edelweiss Air introduces a new revised livery

Edelweiss Air (Zurich) on social media has introduced a new revised look to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The basic change is a larger Edelweiss flower design on the tail. The airline issued this short (translated) statement and image:

We are pleased to inform you that our planes in time for the 20-year anniversary of a new livery.

The first Airbus A320 in the new design will be introduced at the end of November 2015 on the network of Edelweiss. We can’t wait!

easyJet (UK) has signed a firm order for a further 36 Airbus A320 Family aircraft taking its cumulative order for the type to 451. The agreement for six A320ceo and 30 A320neo makes easyJet one of the world’s biggest airline customers for the A320ceo Family with 321 ordered and also for the A320neo with 130 on order.

In the year that easyJet celebrates its 20th anniversary, earlier in April 2015, the airline took delivery of its 250th A320 aircraft. As with other recent deliveries to easyJet, the A320 is equipped with the latest technology and fuel-saving Sharklets.

The airline flies on more than 750 routes to over 130 airports across 31 countries.
easyJet operates Europe’s largest and the world’s fourth largest Airbus single aisle fleet. Since easyJet took delivery of its first Airbus aircraft (an A319) in September 2003, Airbus has delivered an aircraft on average every 16 days to easyJet since the first delivery.

Allegiant celebrates 10 years in Florida with a new “Visit Florida” Airbus A320 logo jet

Allegiant Air (Las Vegas) yesterday (November 4) celebrated 10 years of flying to Florida. The company unveiled and induced into its fleet a newly acquired Airbus A320 aircraft with a special VISIT FLORIDA branded livery. Allegiant hosted the unveiling event at the Orlando-Sanford International Airport (SFB) north of Orlando.

The new livery commemorates the company’s ongoing partnership with VISIT FLORIDA to promote tourism and visitation in the Sunshine State. Since Allegiant began bringing visitors into Florida in 2005, the company has brought more than 22 million people into the state and generated an estimated $15.84 billion in visitor spending. Allegiant employs nearly 1,500 people in Florida d as a result of s its operations in the state.

Between now and the end of the year, Allegiant is inaugurating 14 new Florida flights with two new routes to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, three new routes to Fort Myers, three new routes to St. Petersburg/Clearwater and six new routes to Sanford from cities across the country.

Virgin America reports 3Q GAAP net income of $71.9 million

Virgin America (San Francisco) reported its financial results for the third quarter of 2015. Key highlights from the third quarter include:

Third quarter 2015 net income was $73.0 million excluding special items1, an increase of $31.3 million from the third quarter of 2014. Operating income and operating margin excluding special items were $75.0 million and 18.2 percent, respectively.
On a GAAP basis, net income was $71.9 million. Operating income and operating margin on a GAAP basis were $73.9 million and 18.0 percent, respectively.
Fully diluted earnings per share excluding special items was $1.64. On a GAAP basis, fully diluted earnings per share was $1.61.

“Virgin America continued its strong financial performance in the third quarter with record earnings and margins,” said David Cush, Virgin America’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “We believe we are well-positioned to grow the airline while maintaining our low cost model, driving year-over-year industry unit revenue outperformance and improving ancillary revenue. We’re also investing in our product so that we can continue improving what is already the best, most consistent guest experience in the industry.”
