Turkish Airlines converts three Airbus A330 options

Turkish Airlines (Istanbul) has exercised three Airbus A330 options into firm orders for deliveries in 2012.

Air France takes delivery of its first Airbus A380

Air France (Paris) as planned took delivery of its first Airbus A380 yesterday (October 30). A380-861 F-HPJA (msn 033, ex F-WWSB) was accepted by the flag carrier.

Continental to add 3 new routes from Houston on November 1

Continental Airlines (Houston) will add three new routes from the Houston (Bush Intercontinental) hub on Sunday, November 1. CO will add nonstop spoke routes to Edmonton, Frankfurt and Washington (Dulles). The last two will feed the Star Alliance hubs of its new partners. The IAG-FRA route will be operated with Boeing 767-400s.

United Airlines (Chicago) as previously reported, retired the last Boeing 737 on Wednesday evening (October 28). Despite a snowstorm in Denver, Boeing 737-322 N331UA (msn 24192) arrived at the San Francisco base ironically just as the sun was setting. The airport gave the traditional water cannon salute on landing ending an long era.

United to end Mesa’s Bombardier Q200 Denver operation by June 30, 2010

United Airlines (Chicago) will early terminate the Mesa Airlines (Mesa Air Group) Bombardier DHC-8-202 (Q200) turboprop operation no later than June 30, 2010. 10 turboprops are being operated by Mesa, mainly from the Denver hub. Four of the 10 aircraft will be returned to lessors by Mesa. However Mesa will try to resettle six DHC-8-202s in another operation.

Gulfstream to add additional Tallahassee flights from Orlando and Tampa

AirTran places N946AT into service

AirTran Airways (Orlando and Atlanta) has placed Boeing 717-2BD N946AT (msn 55009) into revenue service. The airliner is painted in the Baltimore Ravens (NFL football team) special motif as we previously first reported. It is pictured arriving at Baltimore/Washington in this nice view.

Belair Airlines to retire its Boeing 767-300 in January

Belair Airlines (airberlin.com) (Zurich) is planning to return its Boeing 767-3Q8 ER HB-ISE (msn 27600) to the lessor in January when the lease expires. No long-range replacement has been announced.
