Lucky Air (Kunming, Yunnan, China) on July 14 took delivery of the first Boeing 737-800 painted in the new 2015 livery.

Jin Air (subsidiary of Korean Air) (Seoul) is expanding eastward to Hawaii. The low-fare carrier will launch Boeing 777-200 flights from Seoul (Incheon) to Honolulu on December 19. The new route will be operated five days a week.

Boeing (Chicago, Seattle and Charleston) has issued this statement concerning China Eastern Airlines (Shanghai) intent to finalize a deal for 50 Boeing 737-800s:
Boeing is delighted with China Eastern Airlinesโ decision to purchase 50 Next-Generation 737-800s as stated in their public disclosure to the Hong Kong stock exchange.
The airplanes will be operated by China United Airlines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the China Eastern Airlines, and other branches and subsidiaries of the carrier.
The order will be posted on Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries website once all contingencies are cleared.

Hawaiian Airlines (Honolulu) on October 1 is dropping all service to Sendai, Japan. The airline is currently servicing the destination three days a week with Boeing 767-300 ERs per Airline Route.

Island Air (Honolulu) on June 1 will discontinue service to Kauai (LIH) and slightly adjust service between Honolulu and Maui (OGG) from eight round-trip flights a day to seven round-trips (Monday-Friday) and ten round-trip flights on weekends.
In addition, two of the Honolulu-Maui flights will continue on to Lanai (LNY) after picking up additional passengers in Maui, replacing five nonstop round-trips per day from Honolulu.

Skymark Airlines (Tokyo-Haneda) is reportedly close to accepting financial sponsorship from ANA Holdings, the holding company of ANA (All Nippon Airways) (Tokyo) according to this report by our partner ZipanguFlyer. The bankrupt company received bids from over 20 companies. ANA would co-sponsor the embattled carrier with investment fund Integral Corporation according to this report. An official announcement is expected next week.

Virgin America (San Francisco) today announced it will start flying from San Francisco to Honolulu, Oahu from November 2, 2015, and Kahului, Maui from December 3, 2015.
In a private call last month, CEO Cush received permission from Hawai’i Governor David Ige to bring Virgin America’s new flight service to the state.
The daily, nonstop flights will be operated with new Airbus A320 aircraft that Virgin America will take delivery of this year, which will be equipped with fuel-saving, ‘sharklet’ wingtip devices, allowing the airline to operate flights more efficiently, especially over longer haul routes. Virgin America is working with the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) and Airbus to ensure that the airline’s new Airbus A320 aircraft are certified for Extended Operation (ETOPS). ETOPS is the standard certification process carriers obtain for longer range over water flights.

Hawaiian Airlines (Honolulu) has announced the completion of a comprehensive retrofit on the first of its 18 Boeing 717 aircraft, featuring an island-inspired interior cabin redesign and new lightweight Main Cabin seating from Acro Aircraft Seating Limited (below).

Previously, five different cabin configurations were operating among Hawaiian’s neighbor island fleet. When all reconfigurations are complete later this year, the identical galley, lavatory, and 128-seat configuration onboard each aircraft will provide a consistent onboard experience for travelers while decreasing the airline’s operational complexity.
Intended to evoke high-performance automotive design, the new Main Cabin seats complement the fast and reliable service of Hawaiian’s 20 to 60 minute flights. The seatbacks offer a ‘tablet table’ machined from solid aluminum, sized and designed for complimentary beverage service and the use of a tablet device.
The refreshed interior color palette connects travelers with the elements of the islands through earth tones, a deep aqua seat, and accents of fuchsia and sky blue. Contrast stitching in the upholstery brings out natural forms of the islands. Other design elements include new seat covers and leather arm caps in First Class; new carpeting, galley flooring and curtains; and new forward windows on certain aircraft.
The airline’s entire narrow-body fleet, which operates more than 160 short haul flights daily between the islands of the state, will be retrofitted to feature these new cabin enhancements by the end of 2015.

WestJet (Calgary) today announced flights between Alberta and Hawaii beginning in December are available for booking on its newly-acquired Boeing 767 wide-body aircraft. The 767, the first in the WestJet fleet, will operate between Calgary and Honolulu, Calgary and Maui and between Edmonton and Maui.
The 767s are configured with 24 seats in Plus, offering wider seats with more recline in a 2-2-2 configuration, meaning each set of two seats is separated by an aisle. There are 238 seats in the main cabin, and all seats have access to power for personal electronic devices such as tablets or phones.
“These aircraft will be redeployed in summer 2016 to new and exciting international destinations that will be announced later this year,” concluded Chris Avery.
The first WestJet Boeing 767-300 will be the former QANTAS Airways 767-338 ER VH-OGJ (msn 25274) which became N324BC with Boeing Capital Corporation. It is due to become C-FOGJ on delivery to WestJet according to ch-aviation.
At this time, the carrier is planning to launch flights with the new Boeing 767s on December 11, 2015. The first two routes will be from Calgary to Honolulu and Kahului (Maui).

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) next winter is adding two additional seasonal routes from the Pacific Northwest to Hawaii. According to Airline Route, the carrier will add daily Boeing 757 service from Seattle/Tacoma to Kona (Hawaii) and Portland-Honolulu flights starting December 19, 2015.
On February 23 Delta issued this statement:
Delta Air Lines is adding service from its hub at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Kona International Airport and will increase service from select seasonal markets beginning as soon as summer 2015.
The new and increased Seattle service will operate as follows:
One daily flight to Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii beginning December 19, 2015
One additional daily flight to Palm Springs, California, for a total of two daily seasonal flights beginning December 19, 2015
One daily seasonal flight to Tucson, Arizona, which was previously Saturday service, beginning December 19, 2015
Extension of seasonal service to daily year-round service to Fairbanks and Juneau, Alaska, beginning May 15, 2015
Expanded seasonal service to Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, beginning October 3, 2015
Service to Kona will be operated with Boeing 757-200 aircraft. Fairbanks, Juneau and Puerto Vallarta will use Boeing 737-800 aircraft, while Los Cabos will use Airbus A319 aircraft. Palm Springs and Tucson service will be operated by Delta Connection carrier SkyWest Airlines using two-class, 65-seat Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft.
Additionally, Delta will introduce Boeing 717 aircraft on some existing routes between Seattle/Tacoma and Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Phoenix starting on September 1.
As Seattle’s global airline, Delta offers customers access to a worldwide network of destinations throughout Asia, Europe and the U.S. with 85 peak-day departures to 31 destinations from Seattle. By summer, the airline will operate 126 flights to 35 destinations from its West Coast hub.
Delta will serve Seattle’s top 15 destinations in the Western U.S. when recently announced service to Boise, Idaho; Denver; and Sacramento, Calif., launches this spring. Ketchikan and Sitka, Alaska, service will also launch in May, completing the top five destinations in Alaska.
During the summer, Delta offers 10 long-haul international flights from Seattle/Tacoma, providing as much long-haul international service from Seattle/Tacoma as all other airlines combined. This includes the top five destinations in Asia and three of the top four destinations in Europe. Delta is the only carrier to offer nonstop service from Seattle/Tacoma to Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Paris, Shanghai and Tokyo-Haneda.
