Norwegian brings the first Boeing 787 to Orlando

Norwegian 787 arrives in MCO (OIA)(LRW)

Norwegian Air Shuttle (Norwegian Long Haul) (Norwegian.com) (Oslo) landed the first scheduled Boeing 787 Dreamliner service at Orlando International Airport (MCO) on Thursday night (May 29). The maiden flight from Oslo, Norway to Orlando was the first Boeing 787 to land at MCO. The full flight was greeted with a traditional water salute by the airport rescue fire fighters (ARFF).

Norwegian Air will offer nonstop service between Orlando and Oslo two-days-a-week, Thursdays and Saturdays, with connections to over 94 locations in Europe and Thailand.

Flybe to add 2 new routes from Birmingham to Hamburg and Oslo

Flybe (Exeter) has announced it will operate two new routes from Birmingham Airport this winter namely a daily service to Hamburg and Oslo from October 26, 2014 through to March 27, 2015 with Embraer 175s.

Already Birmingham Airportโ€™s largest carrier, the airline has also announced (May 20, 2014) that, due to early successes, it will extend to year-round on six of the new routes it is operating this summer. Flybe will continue to operate up to 28 weekly flights to Cologne, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Florence and Oporto with frequency aimed to provide convenience for business travellers and those passengers wanting a short break on the continent. Due to the popularity of its summer twilight flights to Reykjavik, itโ€™s also moving this three times a week service to daytime flying, also with effect from October 26.

The move is estimated to result in Flybe carrying an additional 100,000 passengers a year at Birmingham Airport. Altogether, itโ€™s another exciting week for Flybe in Birmingham as its last four remaining inaugural flights for summer take off to Newquay, Bordeaux, Palma and Toulouse.

In total, Flybe will operate up to 350 flights a week from Birmingham on 26 routes as part of its 2014-15 winter schedule.

Norwegian is coming to Oakland today

Norwegian Long Haul (Norwegian.com) (Oslo) today (May 3) launched the first nonstop flight from Stockholm (Arlanda) to Oakland, California. It is the first time that Sweden has a direct flight to the San Francisco Bay area.

The new route is operated two days a week with the Boeing 787. Oslo-Oakland service starts on May 28.

Norwegian’s other long-haul routes from Stockholm (Arlanda) and Oslo (Gardermoen) operates to New York (JFK), Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood and Bangkok. From Copenhagen the fast-growing airline operates nonstopย flights to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Los Angeles and New York (JFK).

Emirates is coming to Oslo, Norway

Emirates (Dubai) will expand its European network with a new daily flight to Oslo, Norway, from September 2, 2014 marking its third Scandinavian gateway.

Operated by a Boeing 777-300 ER, the daily service will offer three cabin classes with eight seats in First Class, 42 seats in Business Class and 310 seats in Economy Class.

In addition to passenger operations, Emiratesย SkyCargo will offer 23 tons of cargo capacity between the two cities. Popular commodities are expected to be; oil and gas equipment, maritime and ship spares, pharmaceuticals, seafood, chemicals, electronics, telecommunication equipment, machinery, dairy products and fruits and vegetables bound for markets like Vietnam, China and Taiwan.

Emirates new daily flight to Oslo will depart Dubai as flight EK 159 at 0700 and arrives at Oslo Airport,ย Gardermoen at 1210. The return flight, flight EK 160 will depart at 1355 and arrives at Dubai International Airport at 2250.

Emiratesโ€™ launch of Oslo will follow the launch of Kano and Abuja in Nigeria on August 1 and Chicago on August 5.

SAS announces seven new routes for the summer season 2014

Scandinavian Airlines-SAS (Stockholm) today announced the first seven new routes for the 2014 timetable. From the end of March 2014, SAS will be opening Stockholm (Arlanda)-Visby, Stavanger-Edinburgh, Oslo-Edinburgh, Oslo-Aalborg, Oslo-Aberdeen and Oslo-Chania, as well as Copenhagen-Leeds/Bradford. These launches reflect increased customer demand for new nonstop services.

Earlier this fall, SAS opened two new year-round routes, Copenhagen-Bremen and Copenhagen-Humberside, and announced two routes for the winter season 2013: Oslo-Sochi and Copenhagen-Salzburg. In 2013, SAS launched more than 50 new domestic and European routes, as well as the popular Copenhagen-San Francisco route.

The new routes will go on sale gradually from November 21, 2013. SAS will launch the peak summer timetable on Monday, November 25.

Norwegian to fly nonstop Oslo-Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood flights

Norwegian Air Shuttle (Norwegian.com) (Oslo) is set to launch a new route linking its Oslo (Gardermoen) home and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on November 30 with Boeing 787-8s. This will become the third long-distance route after New York (JFK) and Bangkok from Oslo.

Norwegian will fly twice weekly between Oslo Gardermoen (OSL) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Departure from OSL will be at 1510 (3:10 pm), arriving at FLL at 1930 (7:30 pm) local time.

Departure from FLL will be on Mondays and Fridays at 2130 (9:30 pm), arriving at OSL at 1235 (12:35 pm) the next day.

Norwegian to start Stockholm-Manchester service on November 1

Norwegian Air Shuttle (Oslo) will start a new route connecting Stockholm (Arlanda) and Manchester starting on November 1. The new route will operate four days a week.

SAS Norge to cut some flights and routes

Scandinavian Airlines Norge (SAS Norge) (a subsidiary of Scandinavian Airlines-SAS) (Oslo) will cut some flights and routes along with some personnel. However parent SAS Group will still maintain a domestic network in Norway. Effective yesterday (September 30) the SAS Norge division is now operating under the SAS AOC. Scandinavian Airlines Norge is the result of the merger of SAS Norway and Braathens. The airline was first known as SAS Braathens, but changed its name to Scandinavian Airlines Norge in 2007.
