Etihad Regional to add Brussels on March 29, 2015

Etihad Regional (Darwin Airline) (Lugano and Geneva) will add Brussels, Belgium on March 29 with two routes radiating to Dresden (three days a week) and Leipzig (four days a week). The new routes will be operated with ATR 72s.

Qatar Airways Cargo to expand to Brussels and Shanghai

Qatar Airways Cargo (Qatar Airways) (Doha) is set to continue its expansion with the launch of two new freighter destinations, Brussels in Belgium and Shanghai in China.

Brussels will be served four times weekly by the Airbus A330F freighter, effective on October 1. The freighter will fly via Entebbe to Brussels on Wednesdays and Sundays and via Nairobi to Brussels on Mondays and Fridays.

A three-times weekly nonstop Boeing 777 freighter service will operate on the Doha-Shanghai-Doha route, effective October 2.

In addition, with effect from October 1, an additional Boeing 777 freighter frequency will be added on the Doha โ€“ Hong Kong route, bringing up the weekly frequencies to 14.

Qatar Airways Cargo completed the transition from a manually handled cargo environment to a fully automated cargo terminal at Hamad International Airport when it moved to the new state-of-the-art facility. The brand new cargo terminal at Hamad International Airport offers the very latest technology and five-star service to customers around the globe.

Previously Qatar Airwaysย signed a Letter of Intent for four additional Boeing 777Fs.

Jetairfly to establish a new base at Antwerp

Jetairfly (Jetairfly.com) (Brussels) with the delivery of its third Embraer 190 will establish a new base at Antwerp. Starting inย April 2015 Jetairfly will start flying from Antwerp Airport to Mallorca, Malaga and Alicante.

Jetairfly.com is a brand name of Tui Airlines Belgium NV. Jetairfly.com is a part of TUI Travel PLC, the largest tourism group in the world, with its headquarters in the United Kingdom.

Condor to operate to Providence and Portland, Oregon next summer

Condor Flugdienst (Frankfurt) will add new twice-weekly summer seasonal flights to Providence, Rhode Island (June 18-September 3, 2015) and Portland, Oregon (June 19-September 4, 2015) from Frankfurt with Boeing 767-300 ERs.

Condor will also offer seasonal service to Windhoek (WDH) in 2015, with flights operating from Frankfurt (FRA) on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Additionally the company is offering weekly Airbus A320 (above) flights from Munich to Larnaca from September 3 through November 26, 2014 per Airline Route.

Ryanair launches daily Dublin-Brussels flights, wants to acquire Cyprus Airways

Ryanair (Dublin) on August 21 launched new daily Dublin-Brussels (Zaventem) service (three roundtrips daily) as part of an extended Dublin winter 2014 schedule, with nine new routes and increased flights on 21 existing routes to/from Dublin Airport. This new Brussels Zaventem route complements Ryanairโ€™s existing Dublin-Charleroi (near Brussels) route.

The nine new routes from Dublin are to Basel, Brussels (Zaventem), Bucharest, Cologne, Glasgow, Lisbon, Marrakesh, Nice and Prague.

In other news, Ryanair will soon be in talks with the government of Cyprus about a possible takeover of loss-making Cyprus Airways (Larnaca) according to this report by Reuters. Ryanair believes it can turn around the failing carrier. Nearly 20 companies have submitted non-binding expressions of interest about Cyprus Airways.

Jetairfly to expand flights to Florida

Jetairfly (TUI Airlines Belgium) (Brussels) will return to Sanford (near Orlando) on October 24 where it will operate twice weekly Boeing 767-300 ER flights on a Brussels-Miami-Sanford-Brussels routing per Airline Route.

The carrier will also add a separate third weekly return trip to Miami.

Blue Air to fly Liverpool-Bucharest

Brussels Airlines to extend its network to Riga, Latvia

Brussels Airlines (Brussels) on October 26 will start flights between Brussels Airport and Riga. The capital of Latvia will be connected to the European capital with six flights per week to Riga International Airport, all in the afternoon.

The flights will be operated in collaboration with codeshare partner airBaltic.

The new route will be operated with Avro (BAe) RJ100 aircraft.

Hainan Airlines to fly to Paris from Hangzhou and Xian

Hainan Airlines (Haikou and Beijing) will open a new route to Paris (CDG) from Hangzhou via Xian on September 3. The new route will be operated with Airbus A330-200s according to Airline Route.

Ethiopian Airlines to bring the Boeing 787 to Paris and Brussels starting on June 1

Ethiopian Airlines (Addis Ababa) starting on June 1 will introduce the Boeing 787 on the Addis Ababa-Paris (CDG)-Brussels route, replacing a Boeing 767-300 per Airline Route with six weekly flights.
