Ethiopian Airlines (Addis Ababa) will now route its daily Washington Dulles-bound flight and its three times weekly-Toronto Pearson-bound flight from Rome (Fiumicino) to Dublin effective May 10 according to Irish Travel News. Previously the airline announced it was routing its Addis Ababa-Los Angeles Boeing 787 flight through Dublin as a transit stop. The airline will not gain any traffic rights from Dublin.
In other news,ย TAP Portugal and Ethiopian Airlines, both Members of Star Alliance, have signed a code-share agreement and will be soon introducing code-share services between Portugal and Ethiopia.

Delta Air Lines (Atlanta) will restart its seasonal nonstop flight between Dublin International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, effective March 30, 2015. The daily flight will complement Deltaโs existing daily nonstop service between Dublin and New York-JFK.
Deltaโs seasonal Atlanta service will be operated in conjunction with joint venture partner, Air France-KLM and Delta will fly a 225-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft on the route.
Deltaโs nonstop flight between Dublin and Atlanta will operate until October 24.
In other news, Delta will restartย Athens to New York-JFK five times weekly service from March 30, 2015 increasing to a daily operation from May 2, 2015. An additional flight will then be added five times a week from June 2, 2015, bringing the number of weekly services to 12 in the peak summer months.

Swiss International Air Lines (Zurich) is adding three new routes this summer from Geneva. According to Airline Route, Swiss will add summer service from GVA to Biarritz (twice-weekly starting on June 25), Dublin (four days a week effective June 26) and Algiers (three weekly flights, effective June 27).

Flybe (Exeter) has announced 11 new routes from itโs newest base: Cardiff.
The new network connects the Welsh capital to Cork, Dublin, Edinburgh, Faro, Glasgow, Munich, Milan and Paris (CDG) and will create 50 new jobs including flight crew and ground handling staff.
The routes will be operated by two of the carrierโs Embraer ERJ 195 aircraft.ย One of these 118-seat aircraft will arrive at Cardiff in June and the second in September 2015.
Flybe currently operates from Cardiff to Belfast, Jersey and Dusseldorf.

International Airlines Groupโs (IAG) (British Airways, Iberia and Vueling Airlines) (London) continued seduction of Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus (Dublin) seems to be finally working, as the airline is revealing the positives of a takeover by the owner of British and Spanish flag carriers British Airways (London-Heathrow) and Iberia (Madrid).
In a statement to The Guardian, Christoph Mueller, the clover-tailed carrierโs outgoing CEO says that Irelandโs entire economy will benefit if the International Airlines Group takes over Aer Lingus.
Mueller, who steps down as CEO of the airline this week, said IAGโs ยฃ1.02 billion (โฌ1.4 billion) ($1.57 billion) offer to buy Aer Lingus would be the biggest single foreign investment in the Republic since the financial crash.
He continued that there was โa great deal of excitementโ that Aer Lingus would be able to create jobs on a much larger scale if IAG took charge of the former state-run airline.
Mueller also stressed that talks between IAG and the Aer Lingus trade unions had been โvery constructiveโ.
Aer Lingus announced on Tuesday that its profits had risen by almost 18% to โฌ72 million ($81.6 million) from the previous year. Total revenue was up by 9.2%. For the first time in the airlineโs history the number of passengers has exceeded 11 million.
On the hike in profits and the IAG take-over proposal, Mueller added: We profitably expanded our long-haul network utilizing our cost advantage and favorable geographic position and helped establish Dublin as the 7th largest European hub for transatlantic connections.
โOur short-haul business continued to demonstrate its resilience despite a highly competitive market. Commercial initiatives, in addition to cost control, led to the highest operating profit since the financial crisis and 17.8% above last year.โ

Europe Airpost (Paris-CDG) is joining the list of airlines operating Boeing 737 aircraft across the Atlantic Ocean. According to Dublin Airport,ย Europe Airpost will operate a new nonstop scheduled summer service between Dublin and Halifax, Novia Scotia this summer. The new route will operate from the beginning of July until mid September.
Europe Airpost, which is the French subsidiary of Dublin-based ASL Aviation Group, has an existing charter operation at Dublin Airport, but the new weekly Halifax service will be its first scheduled service from Dublin. The company has been operating at Dublin Airport since 2010 and is the only charter airline that has an aircraft based year-round in Ireland. Europe Airpostโs new route will operate weekly from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Dublin and then continue to Halifax, Novia Scotia with a Boeing 737-700 aircraft.
The new service will operate weekly from July 9 until September 11 with flights departing Dublin on Thursdays and from Halifax on Fridays. The schedule for the new routes is as follows: Dublin/Halifax Thursday: Departs from Dublin 2:25 p.m. โ Arrives in Halifax 4:45 p.m. Friday: Departs from Halifax 10:15 a.m. โ Arrives in Dublin 8:05 p.m. All times specified are local and subject to government approval. The flights will be operated by a Boeing 737-700, configured in a two-class lay-out, with a capacity of 130 seats: 16 in Premium class and 114 in Economy class.

WestJet (Calgary) today announced two new destinations – Houston, Texas and Gander, Newfoundland – as part of the 2015 summer schedule release. The airline adds a total of nine new routes and increased frequency on 15 established routes.
In addition to nonstop flights to Houston, growth in Western Canada includes new daily non-stop flights from Calgary to Yellowknife and Terrace, BC, launching May 3, 2015. WestJet Encore service between Edmonton and Kamloops, BC, announced early last year, is set to begin on February 15, 2015.
In addition, WestJet has announced the largest increase in service from Halifax Stanfield International Airport since the airline first arrived in February 2003. This announcement, part of the 2015 summer schedule release, makes it official โ WestJet Encore is now serving Canadians coast to coast.
The airline continues to bolster its presence in the Atlantic Provinces where the majority of route and frequency increases announced today take place. New nonstop daily service from Halifax to Gander and Deer Lake, Newfoundland and Sydney, Nova Scotia begins July 15, 2015, along with increased frequency between Halifax and Ottawa, Toronto and St. John’s, Newfoundland. Cities currently served from Halifax include Calgary, Edmonton, Hamilton, Ontario, and six U.S. and international destinations.
Haligonians will also help WestJet celebrate new service between their fair city and Glasgow, United Kingdom, beginning May 29, 2015. As the halfway point between Europe and the west coast of North America, Halifax is the perfect jumping-off point for a tour across the pond.

Next summer, the airline is also offering daily flights from Shannon to New York-JFK, bringing the total number of seats between Ireland and the U.S. to 8,700 per week.
Delta Air Lines also announced it will once again be offering nonstop daily flights between between Malagaโs Costa del Sol Airport and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport for the 2015 summer season.
Flights will begin five times a week from June 4, 2015, increasing to daily from June 29, 2015. The U.S. airline has scheduled a Boeing 757-200 aircraft with 164 seats on the route, which is operated in conjunction with Deltaโs joint venture partners Air France and KLM.
In addition to these flights, the airline also offers year-round service from Madrid to Atlanta and New York-JFK, plus summer services between Barcelona and Atlanta.
Finallyย Delta will once again be offering nonstop flights between between Stockholmโs Arlanda Airport and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport for the 2015 summer season.

VivaAerobus (Monterrey) will launch new international service to DFW International Airport from two of Mexico’s largest cities, Guadalajara and from Monterrey, starting on March 28, 2015. The low cost carrier will use Airbus A320 aircraft and will operate out of DFW’s International Terminal D three times per week. VivaAerobus also plans to launch service from DFW to Cancun in July of 2015.
VivaAerobus currently serves 21 destinations in Mexico with hubs in Monterrey and Cancun, and also serves three U.S. destinations in addition to DFW Airport. Headquartered in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Viva Aerobus is co-owned by IAMSA, Mexico’s largest bus company conglomerate, and the founders of Ryanair, Europe’s biggest low-cost carrier.
When service begins in March, VivaAerobus will become the eighth international carrier to start service at DFW since 2011, extending the Airport’s recent run of international expansion. Since 2011, DFW has added 25 new international routes, 18 of those to new international destinations.
